The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to a nearby gas station. The contact was able to drive to his residence. The contact stated that he had experiencedd the failure six additional times. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The dealer stated they would call him back when they had a loaner vehicle available. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer but was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
Fuel injection system causing stalling on the road
On September 26th, 2021 I was reversing out a parking space, the rear camera was engaged and the R indication in place. While halfway out of the parking space the vehicle accelerated hitting another vehicle. The brakes would not engage to slow or stop the vehicle, I had to slip the gear into park to have the vehicle come to a completed stop. the accident was report to the insurance company and information was exchanged due to the location. Six months prior, while my daughter was reversing off the drive, similar behavior occurred, where she did not feel comfortable driving the car and parked it onto the driveway. I do not know if there's a recall or any other additional reports. please advise of the next steps in filing a complaint or opening a case.

During the crash, neither the front driver-side nor passenger-side airbags were deployed. The driver sustained a fractured right foot and neck injury and the front passenger who was the driver's son sustained a neck injury. Medical attention was required for the driver. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not towed and no police report was taken. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Battery and antitheft device malfunction causing inability to shift out of neutral and can roll of the road. I left car immediate due to the risk of rolling into traffic without control called for help and secured with blocks. Not confirmed yet by dealer....no warning prior to failure....car is secured waiting for tow for 2 days to the dealership...the keys dont work ..it was a very dangerous situation and other mercedes have encountered this problem noted on line the mercedes dashboard ..
MY 2016 MB GLE 350 WITH 57750 MILES STALLED IN THE DRIVE THRU LANE AT STARBUCKS. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES. NOTED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. RE-STARTED THE ENGINE AND BEGAN TO DRIVE HOME. VECHICLE STALLED IN TRAFFIC AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. TOWED TO MB DEALER. THIS WAS THEIR ASSESSMENT: VERIFIED COMPLIANT. CONNECTED SDS AND RAN SHORT TEST. FOUND FAULT CODES FOR FUEL PUMP TO HAVE OPEN CIRCUIT & SHORT CIRCUIT. CHECKED POWER AT CONNECTOR TO FUEL PUMP TO FUEL PUMP CONTROL UNIT. NO PWM SIGNAL FOUND COMING FROM FUEL PUMP CONTROL UNIT. CHECKED FUEL PUMP CONTROL UNIT. FOUND FUEL PUMP CONTROL UNIT WET DUE TO WATER LEAKING INTO BACK OF VECH. PERFORMED WATER LEAK TEST. FOUND WATER SLOWLY LEAKING INSIDE OF REAR HATCH AT BOTTOM OF MIDDLE SECTION OF REAR HATCH. TO START RECOMMEND REPLACING REAR HATCH SEAL, RECHECKING TO SEE IF WATER LEAK HAS BEEN STOPPED THEN REPLACING FAULTY FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE (IF LEAK HAS BEEN CORRECTED INSIDE OF VECH AND WET ITEMS WILL NEED TO BE AIR DRIED) 4.50 HOURS LABOR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS SITUATION THOROUGHLY AS THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING OF ANY WATER OR MOISTURE ENTERING THE VECHICLE IN ANY FASHION. DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SUCH A CRITICAL COMPONENT OF THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM WOULD BE EXPOSED TO WATER OR MOISTURE SUCH THAT IT WOULD BECOME INCAPACITATED ABRUPTLY. OUR 2016 GLE350 WITH 67K MILES STALLED AT 5:45 P.M. ON A TWO LANE ROAD WITH HIGH TRAFFIC VOLUME. THERE WAS NO INDICATION BEFORE STALLING EXCEPT A RAPID LOSS OF POWER AND DOWNSHIFTING. IT WAS DUSK AND THE VEHICLE STALLED PARTIALLY IN LANE AS THERE WAS NO ROOM WITH WATER DRAINAGE DITCH. DEALER IDENTIFIED A SEAL IN THE LIFT GATE BEING DEFECTIVE ALLOWING WATER TO ACCUMULATE IN THE SPARE TIRE STORAGE AREA IN PROXIMITY TO THE FUEL PUMP. FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTIONED RESULTING IN VEHICLE STALLING. DEALER SHARED MERCEDES WOULD NOT ADDRESS NOR COVER THE $1600 COST TO REPAIR. WHAT VEHICLE ACCUMULATES ENOUGH WATER TO FILL A SPARE TIRE AREA AND IT OVERFLOWS SHORT OUT A NEARBY FUEL PUMP MODULE AND SOAKING THE INSULATION OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS GARAGED AND SERVICED AS DETERMINED BY THE ON BOARD COMPUTER. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE IN THAT IF WE HAD BEEN ON A FREEWAY THERE IS NO WARING AND THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER QUICKLY LEAVING NO ROOM TO MOVE OUT OF HARMS WAY.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM. ON A DESERTED ROAD SUCH AS THE ROAD THROUGH DENALI NATIONAL PARK VISIBILITY IS APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 50 FT. AT NIGHT. ALSO BECAUSE OF THE NATURE I IF THE BEAM SEEING MORE THAN 15FT. IN FOG OR SNOW IS EXTREMELY IMPEDED. THE BEAM CREATES A HALO STARTING AT 15FT. FROM VEHICLE THAT REFLECTS IN THE FOG AND CREATES AN OPTICAL ILLUSION.

GAS FILLER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN ACCESS TO THE GAS TANK DOOR LEVER IIS TO OPEN THE REAR HATCH , TAKE THE EMERGENCY ACCESSORIES PANEL COVER AND FEEL THE GAS LEVER AND FLIP
WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED EVERY TIME, THE MESSAGE "COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS INOPERATIVE. CHECK THE MANUAL" IS APPEARING. THERE ARE NO KNOWN DAMAGES AND IT APPEARED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AFTER PARKING(IN STATIONARY). NO KNOWN CAUSES FOR DAMAGE OF THE SENSOR. DEALER IS ASKING FOR CHECKING THE ISSUE $157 AND MOSTLY SAYS IT IS A SOFTWARE GLITCH. WHY AS A CUSTOMER I SHOULD PAY FOR THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT?
THE "PANORAMIC SUNROOF" (THE SLIDING PORTION) SUDDENLY EXPLODED AFTER MIDNIGHT ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH - SCARING ME INTO SWERVING AND NEARLY WRECKING THE CAR. IF THE SUNSHADE HAD NOT BEEN CLOSED THE GLASS WOULD HAVE BEEN IN OUR EYES AND FACE. PHOTO WAS A GAS STATION 10 MINUTES LATER.

WHEN THE CAR IS LOCKED, THE DOORS STILL OPEN . MERCEDES COVERED THE FIRST FAILED LOCKS IN OCT 2019 UNDER WARRANTY AND I COVERED THE SECOND DOOR MARCH 2020. NOW THERE IS A 3RD FAILED LOCK. I CALLED MERCEDES TO COVER BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. ALL THE MERCEDES MECHANICS ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE . THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ON THE MERCEDES RECALL . EXAMPLE, LEAVING A DARK PARKING LOT, I ENTER MY VEHICLE AND LOCK THE DOOR BUT YOUR DOORS ARE REALLY NEVER LOCKED , ANYONE CAN OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE DUE TO THE FAILED LOCKING SYSTEM. THE REASON THIS MAY NOT BE REPORTED OFTEN IS BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE DO NOT TRY TO OPEN THEIR DOOR WITHOUT THEIR KEYS NEARBY.
WHITE SMOKE DURING STARTUP
PANORAMIC SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY "EXPLODED" WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON THE FREEWAY. IT WAS A CLEAR, SUNNY MORNING WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 70'S. I WAS NOT NEAR AN UNDERPASS, NOR BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT SOUNDED AS IF A CANNON WENT OFF INSIDE THE VEHICLE, FORTUNATELY THE SUN SCREEN WAS CLOSED OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOWERED IN GLASS. MORE FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. THIS SUDDEN EXPLOSION COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED ME TO VEER OFF THE ROAD OR INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE GLASS APPEARED TO EXPLODE "UPWARD". THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MB DEALERSHIP, WHERE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATES IT IS NOT CONSIDERED A WARRANTY ITEM. MY CONTACT WITH MB USA WAS EQUALLY DISAPPOINTING IN THEIR REFUSAL TO HAVE A FIELD REPRESENTATIVE LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. BASED ON THE MULTIPLE REPORTS/INCIDENTS ON NHTSA AND CONSUMER REPORTS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT MERCEDES-BENZ IS NOT AWARE OF THIS DANGEROUS STRUCTURAL AND/OR PARTS DEFECT.
SINCE THE TIME I PURCHASED THIS CAR, THE BRAKES HAVE REPEATEDLY MADE LOUD SQUEALING NOISES. MERCEDES HAS REPEATEDLY EXAMINED THE CAR AND TOLD US IT IS FINE AND NOT DANGEROUS. THEY HAVE NEVER FIXED THE NOISE. HOWEVER, MORE RECENTLY IN DECEMBER 2019, THE CAR DEVELOPED A STRONG FUEL ORDER IN BOTH THE CABIN AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. WE BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CLAMP AND THE FUEL LINE. HE CALLED THE LOCAL MERCEDES DEALER WHO TOLD HIM TO ADJUST THE CLAMP. THAT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG, AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. FROM ONLINE SEARCHES, I HAVE FOUND OTHER PEOPLE SEEM TO BE EXPERIENCING THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH MERCEDES CARS.

P062800 CURRENT THE OUTPUT FOR THE FUEL PUMP HAS A SHORT CIRCUIT TO THE GROUND. U010987 CURRENT AND STORED COMMUNICATION WITH THE FUEL PUMP MODULE IS FAULTY. THE MESSAGE IS LOST. SRS MALFUNCTION LIGHT POPPED UP WITH CAR NEVER BEING IN ANY SORT OF ACCIDENT
I AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH MY ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM, THAT OTHER MB MODELS OF THE SAME YEAR AND CLASS ARE EXPERIENCING. SOME OF THE 2016 GLE'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE, BUT MY VEHICLE/VIN HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I RECEIVE THIS ERROR MESSAGE WHEN TURNING A CURVE. MY VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY AND MB WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS WITH MY CPO WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS QUOTED ME $6984.00 TO FIX THE ISSUE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER BECAUSE I THINK THAT MY VEHICLE/VIN SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED WITH THE CURRENT RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 18V27200. MY ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM HAS BEEN LEAKING OIL. I AM CONCERNED AS THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND SAFETY ISSUE. I CAN SMELL THE OIL BURNING AS WELL AS SEE IT FOAMING FROM THE FLUID CANISTER.

UPON TURNING THE IGNITION, THE TURN SIGNAL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL CAP WAS DEFECTIVE AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL CAP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FORMAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTING PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE BY THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN OUR GARAGED SINCE UNTIL OCTOBER 26 WHERE MY WIFE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN WHEN PICKING UP OUR SON AT THE LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE VEHICLE CUT OFF WHILE TURNING OUT OF THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFE HAZARD. WHAT IF A SEMI-TRUCK WAS CROSSING THE INTERSECTION, THEY WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP IN TIME? I HAVE READ MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS SAME VEHICLE ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. AGAIN WE HAD IT TOWED TO RBM OF ALPHARETTA AND NOW THEY ARE STATING THAT WATER HAD ENTERED THE AREA WHERE THE FUEL CONTROL SENSOR IS LOCATED. MERCEDES TECHNICIANS ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN IN THAT AREA OF THE VEHICLE AND WE HAVE NEVER HAVE WATER LEAKAGE IN ANY AREA OF THIS VEHICLE AND THEY WERE THE LAST TO WASH THE VEHICLE. IF THIS WAS THE CASE, WHY WASN'T THIS BROUGHT UP WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED. JUST BY USING DEDUCTIVE REASONING, NONE OF THIS MAKE ANY SENSE. MERCEDES IS A PREMIUM BRAND. SOMETHING SIMPLE AS WEATHER STRIPPING LAST LONGER THAN 2 YEARS. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED. MERCEDES DOES NOT OFFER A SOLUTION EVEN AT ADDITIONAL COST TO OWNERS FOR AN UPGRADE IN LIGHTING THAT IS BRIGHTER OR TO ADD ADDITIONAL FOG LAMPS. MB REQUIRES THAT YOU ORDER THE VEHICLE WITH UPGRADED LIGHTING PACKAGE FROM FACTORY. IF YOU PURCHASE AFTER MARKET PRODUCTS THEN MB WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. APPARENTLY ITS A KNOWN ISSUE ON ALL MODELS WITHOUT OPTIONAL LIGHTING PACKAGE, THOUSANDS OF POSTS ONLINE VALIDATE THE CONCERN. THE REAR COLLISION ALERT SYSTEM HAS A DESIGN FLAW. THE SOUND ADJUSTED BY TECHNICIAN TO 100% IS BARELY AUDIBLE BY THE DRIVER, AND TYPICALLY AT OR AFTER IMPACT. IT IS ALSO NOT LINKED TO THE CAR DASH SOUND SYSTEM, SO THE RADIIO DOES NOT SHUT OFF ITS VOLUME. IN THIS INSTANCE, THE AUDIBLE ALARM IS INAUDIBLE. I HAVE HAD TWO ACCIDENTS WITH THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. THE DEALER DOES NOT ARGUE WITH MY ASSESSMENT, BUT SAYS THE SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. ATTACHED IS MY MERCEDES SERVICE RECORD DATED 10-23-2018 EXPECTING THE PROBLEM TO BE CORRECTED BY DEALER PROGRAMABLE TECHNOLOGY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS EXPOSED TO NORMAL RAINY CONDITIONS. THERE IS NO WAY WATER SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET TO THE FUEL LINE BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE INSULATED AGAINST MOISTURE. CORPORATE THOUGHT THERE WAS FLOODING IN THE AREA, BUT THERE IS NO FLOODING IN DALLAS, TEXAS. MB CONDUCTS QUALITY TESTING IN DIFFERENT CLIMATES SO I DO NO SEE WHY THEY WOULD NOT CONSIDER IT TO BE A PRODUCT DEFECT. SOMEONE CAN POTENTIALLY DIE FROM THE CAR STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SOLENOID VALVE EITHER UNLOCKS ITSELF DURING DRIVE, OR CANNOT BE CLOSED. DURING RUNNING THE DOOR OF THE OUTLET IS OPEN. THE CARS BEHIND ME HONK AND ATTEMPT TO OVERTAKE ME AND SLOW DOWN IN THE NEXT LANE TO WARN ME THAT MY GASOLINE DOOR IS OPEN (THEY DO NOT KNOW IT IS ELECTRICAL). I GET WORRIED ABOUT THEIR SAFETY AND MINE IN THE HGHWAY . WATER AND SNOW SEEPS INTO THE SOLENOID VALVE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CLOSE THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET COVER OF THE CHARGING OUTLET. IT HAS GONE TO THE WORKSHOP THREE TIMES. THEY PRETTY MUCH GAVE UP AND REFERRED TO MERCEDES. TWO WINTERS, THE VALVE IS FROZEN AND NON FUNCTIONAL. NON CLOSURE OF THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET MAKES GASOLINE OUTLET DOOR INOPERABLE. OCCASIONALLY, A DUCT TAPE HAS TO BE USED TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED AND GASOLINE FILLED. INITIALLY, THE DEALER NOT KNOWING, I SUPPOSE, SUGGESTED I USE WD 40 SPRAY INTO THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET DOOR. I WAS RELUCTANT TO FOLLOW THIS MODE DUE TO FEAR OF ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT. DEFECTIVE JACK - THE CAR WAS STATIONARY ON THE SHOULDER OF AN INTERSTATE IN ORDER TO FIX A FLAT TIRE. THE JACK PRONG WAS INSERTED AS DESIGNED INTO THE HOLE UNDER THE CAR AND THE CAR WAS RAISED TO REMOVE THE TIRE. UPON RAISING, THE PRONG DEFORMED AND RESULTED IN THE COLLAPSE OF THE CAR. THE RESULTING DEFORMITY RENDERED THE JACK INOPERATIVE AND ALMOST RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURY. THE LETTER STATED "THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MAY DEACTIVATE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH." I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ USA AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE 100 % THAT THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY STATED THEY HAVE NO PARTS TO FIX PROBLEM AND WOULD SEND ANOTHER LETTER AS PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE. I EXPLAINED I DO MOUNTAIN DRIVING WEEKLY WHICH INCLUDES CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS THRU OUT THE YEAR, THEREFORE THIS RESPONSE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. AFTER STOPPING, WHEN THE CAR TRANSMISSION IS IN DRIVE MODE. IF THE DRIVER PRESSES THE KEYLESS IGNITION BUTTON TO OFF, THE CAR TRANSMISSION SWITCHES TO NEUTRAL MODE. THIS CAUSES ROLLOVER RISK. IF THE DRIVER DOES NOT SEE THAT THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL, THE CAR CAN ROLL AND CAUSE COLLISION AND RISK TO PEOPLE AROUND. THE CAR SHOULD EITHER STAY IN DRIVE MODE OR SWITCH TO PARK MODE WHEN THE OFF BUTTON IS SWITCHED WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE MODE.

THIS HAS CAUSE SEVERAL NEAR-HIT SITUATIONS WITH ME WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. THE MIRROR NEEDS TO PIVOT ABOUT 10 DEGREES FARTHER TO ALLOW THE DRIVER VISIBILITY OF THE BLIND SPOT OR THE MIRROR NEEDS TO BE CONVEX TO INCREASE THE FIELD OF VIEW OF THE MIRROR.
ECO START/STOP FEATURE IS UNSAFE. DRIVER COULD MISINTERPRET WHEN VEHICLE IS IN ECO STOP MODE VS OFF IN PARK. THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO START AND LURCH FORWARD WHEN THE DRIVER TAKES THEIR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE WHEN THEY ASSUME IT IS OFF IN PARK. UNSAFE.
