Vehicles engine suddenly and without warning began knocking while crusing down the interstate, within 30 seconds of the sudden knocking the engine was locked up on the side of the road. After reading i have found thousands of other cases just like mine where there cummins 5 liter diesels have suddenly and without warning locked up while traveling down the road. All maintenance was done on time by nissan technicians. Milage for my specific instance was 101,056. Nissan refused to warranty and dealer ended up out of pocketing most of the repair. And Nissan continues to ignore that there is a serious issue with these engines, and after doing more research i have found litterally thousands of cases just like mine, and anywhere from 1000 miles on up through 150,000 miles with some instances happening up to 5 repeated times before the vehicle reaches 100,000 miles. The repair itself cost upward of $23,000, and dealerships and technicians seemly know nothing of said issue even though a quick search online shows case after case of peoples nissan titan diesels unexpected locking up while traveling down the road and in some cases causing the drivetrain to lock up as well suddenly and abruptly stopping there vehicle, potentially causing an accident. More often than not though nissan is leaving these customers like myself high and dry on the side of busy interstate while they continue to hide the fact that there product is defect and potentially unsafe. I was fortunately to have a great dealership that took care of me and got me off the side of the road, but many arent. In most cases including mine these vehicle display a crank position sensor code, and then shortly there after the crankshaft breaks in half and often times sends large pieces of metal flying out of the engine block shortly before locking up completely. I was fortunate and mine did not throw large pieces of metal out but many are not, and these large pieces of metal often pierce the vehicles tires and those behind
Crankshaft broke while on interstate. Lost all power from engine and to exit to side of road immediately. Truck is at dealership and was giving news of needing engine replacement at 84k miles. Service light on for boost control system but was told that vehicle was drivable.
Turbo problem caused me stop in the middle of the freeway with my children Nissan will be fixing this issue with out charging I seen a lot complaints about this same issue
The truck goes into limp mode without warning. The cause is a faulty wastegate actuator that is now on it’s third revision. The exhaust gets clogged dur to improper mix ratio and puts the vehicle into limp mode which will only go about 10 miles per hour. This can happen without notice and could cause death or injury while merging into or across traffic. Part replacement not available and no status when it will be available. This is a serious issue that needs addressed die to no warning before disabling full power. I’ve had several near misses due to this.
The crankshaft broke while I was in the middle of a two lane highway. I was unable to move any further and I was a huge traffic liability for everyone that passed. My children were in the vehicle and we were really worried about their safety. The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer and my insurance. There were no warning lights or anything to let me know I might be having an issue.
Hello, I have purchased this Titan XD diesel 3 years ago from Nissan Dealership in MD, (Anwerpan Nissan). That dealership informed me before It was an issued with turbo chargers and replaced them. Over the 3 years I was maintained this truck with proper oil changes and other service. I have outfitted with camping (ovelanding equipment), so this summer in July we went to camp in Upper Peninsula, MI, when the engine just stopped working right on hwy, and it's lucky enough no accident happened and we are be able to roll on side of the road. I have towed the truck to Garber Nissan, MI, they have troubleshooted engine and said it will need a full engine replaced as bearing spun and may be broken crankshaft. I found out later from forums and Facebook it's a very common problem with these engines. It's very dangerous, if the truck was pulling a load and engine locked up, and trailer swing around. Nissan NA has refused to cover this repairs. The repairs is about $17,000 to $20,000 plus. Cummins engines for the Nissan is pretty much failed every one from 2016 to 2018 years of production. The truck has 96,000 miles and warranty expired in 02/19/2021 The Nissan NA representative is [XXX] ph. [XXX]. ENGINE LOSES POWER, SLOWS DOWN TO A CREEPING 5-10 MPH DURING PEAK HOUR TRAFFIC OR TURNS-OFF COMPLETELY. INSTRUMENT PANEL READS EXHAUST FILTER OVERLOAD/REDUCED SPEED. AFTERWARD, VEHICLE WILL NOT START AT TIMES OR WILL START BUT RESUMES 5-10 MPH SPEED OF TRAVEL. HAD MANUAL RESET PERFORMED; ONLY 44 MILES LATER TO HAVE SAME ENGINE TROUBLE BESET THE VEHICLE AGAIN.

IMMEDIATE RECALL NEEDED ON ALL NISSAN TITANS WITH LIMP MODE FOR DEF EXPIRATION. DEADLY CONSEQUENCES POSSIBLE AND NOT AVOIDABLE. I HAVE RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT THE TITAN IS A DEADLY VEHICLE IN SEVERAL WAYS. MOST RECENTLY I DISCOVERED THE FACT THAT DEF FLUID AGES TO THE POINT OF CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO A LIMP MODE OF 5MPH WITH NO DISABLING THE LIMP MODE. UNSUSPECTING DIESEL OWNERS HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THE DEF THEY PURCHASED HAS EXPIRED OR THE DEF IN THEIR TANKS HAS GONE BAD. IF THE VEHICLE IS IN AN AREA THAT HAS DRASTIC CLIMATES SUCH AS SUB ZERO OR EXTREMELY HOT, DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE MAY DIE OF EXPOSURE. THERE IS NO WARNING FOR THE DEF FAILURE FOR IMPENDING FAILURE OF THE EMISSION SYSTEM AS I HAVE JUST EXPERIENCED. I BELIEVE THAT NOT MAKING NISSAN AND OTHERS TO NOT RECALL THIS DANGEROUS BUILT IN CHILD KILLER WOULD BE A TRAGIC MISTAKE BY THE SAFETY COMMISSIONS.
ON A DAILY BASIS THE DIESEL ENGINE HAS A HESITATION FROM BOTH A STOPPED POSITION AS WELL AS LOW ENGINE RPM THAT CAUSES SAFETY CONCERNS IN TRAFFIC. REPORTED ISSUE TO NISSAN WITH NO HELP.
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND I LOST ALL POWER. I HAD TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FAST BEFORE I GOT REAR ENDED. THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I PURCHASED USED WITH 10,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE ENGINE HAS LOST COMPLETE POWER WITH NO ADVANCE NOTICE. FIRST REPAIR BY NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS BLOWN VALVE AND TURBO PROBLEMS. 8,000 MILES LATER THE TURBO IS THROWING ERROR CODE P2662. THIS TRUCK IS HEADING TOWARDS LEMON STATUS WITH THE TERRIBLE 5.0 V8 AND IT'S NO WONDER NISSAN STOPPED OFFERING THE DIESEL OPTION. OTHER PROBLEM THE REAR DOOR EXTERIOR PANEL RATTLES WHEN AT 45MPH OR HIGHER AND IS QUITE ANNOYING FOR A SUPPOSED PLATINUM MODEL. I'M BEYOND DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE AND IT SHOULD BE PULLED OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED FROM INSTANT LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN MOTION. I'M IN SHOCK THAT THIS DIESEL MOTOR ISN'T UNDER INVESTIGATION. NISSAN DOESN'T HAVE ADEQUATE DIESEL TECHNICIANS TO ADDRESS THESE PROBLEMS. NISSAN OR CUMMINS NEED TO RECALL THIS TRUCK IMMEDIATELY.

I USE FOR WORK DAILY AND NOT PUTTING ANYTHING ON MY BED BESIDE COVER ON IT. THERE ARE DIESEL EXHAUST FUMES COMING INTO THE CAB WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE WHETHER THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON RECYCLED, FRESH, OR IF IT IS OFF COMPLETELY. THE SMELL IS OVERWHELMING AND DOES NOT GO AWAY EVEN WITH THE WINDOW BEING ROLLED DOWN. THE FUMES ALSO COME INTO THE CAB WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. THE FUMES DO NOT INCREASE NOR DECREASE DEPENDING ON THE SPEED YOU ARE DRIVING. THE FUMES ARE CONSTANTLY THERE, AT THE SAME SMELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOS SAFETY SYSTEM INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEATING NISSAN (333 INTERSTATE 45 S, CONROE, TX 77304, (936) 230-5083) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SOS SAFETY SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD COVER THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DENIED THAT THE SOS SYSTEM WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIRS HAD TO BE PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD RECEIVE A CALLBACK HOWEVER, NEVER DID RECEIVE THAT CALLBACK. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER THREATENED TO CANCEL THE REMAINDER OF THE VEHICLE WARRANTY IF THE CONTACT PURSUED THE USE OF THE LEMON LAW TO GET RID OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,832.
I LEFT MY HOME ON A 1300-MILE ROUND TRIP FROM AR TO KY. ABOUT 100 MILES INTO MY TRIP WHILE PULLING AN ENCLOSED 16' TRAILER AT 70MPH ON A FLAT 4 LANE HIGHWAY THE WARNING REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER WARNING WENT OUT, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. DURING THE NEXT 550 MILES THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON AND WENT OUT ABOUT EVERY 100 MILES. I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO KY THAT DAY. THE LIGHT WENT OUT THE NEXT MORNING. ON 6 JULY 2020 I STARTED HOME AND BOTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON AFTER I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 50 MILES DRIVING AT 70 MPH PULLING THE TRAILER ON A 4 LANE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE REDUCED POWER WENT OUT BUT THE CHECK ENGINE STAYED ON, DURING THE NEXT 600 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON BUT THE REDUCED POWER WARNING WOULD COME ON AND GO OUT AT ABOUT 50 MILE INTERVALS. THIS CONTINUED ALL THE WAY HOME. DURING THE TRIP WHEN THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON THE TRUCK WOULD HOLD WHATEVER SPEED THE CRUISE WAS SET AT BUT IF IT TRIED TO GO UP ANY INCLINE THE TRUCK WOULD NOT REV ABOVE 3000 RPM WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO JUMP IN AND OUT OF PASSING GEAR AND YOU WERE UNABLE TO PASS OR EVEN KEEP THE SPEED UP GOING UP ANY TYPE OF A STEEP INCLINE (HILL). SINCE YOU HAD NO IDEA WHEN THE LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND THE POWER WAS GOING TO BE REDUCED, I WAS AFRAID TO PASS ANYTHING OR LET ANY OTHER VEHICLE GET TOO CLOSE BEHIND. I GOT THE TRUCK INTO SHOP TWO DAYS LATER. WHEN I PICKED MY TRUCK UP, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE EGR COOLER HAD FAILED INTERNALLY AND WAS LOSING COOLANT INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I DID A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET FOR OTHER OWNERS WHO HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRUCK AND FOUND LOTS OF OTHER OWNERS WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND MOST WERE DUE TO THE EGR COOLER LEAKING AND CAUSING A LOSS OF COOLANT.
ONCE WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHUT OF WITH OUT NOTICE. THERE IS SOME HESITATION OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING AND HAS ALSO STOPPED RUNNING WHILE SITTING STILL. TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND PAID TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S ELECTRICAL OR FUEL COMPONENTS. NO ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. *TR
FACTORY HEADLIGHTS HAVE A BALLAST THAT CONTROLS LOW BEAMS AND DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS THAT IS RETAINING WATER AND CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO EITHER STAY ON OR NOT WORK AT ALL. I HAVE HAD A NISSAN DEALER LOOK AT IT AND THEY DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AS WE USE THE TRUCK AT NIGHT AND DAY AND ONLY HAVE HIGH BEAMS. IT ALL STARTED AFTER WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND WASHED IT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF AND THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM STAYED ON FOR 17 HOURS. REPLACED THE BALLAST WITH A USED ONE AND IT WORKED BUT ANY TIME IT RAINED OR WASHED THE TRUCK IT WOULD STOP WORKING AND NOW IT IS COMPLETELY OUT AND TODAY 5/26/20 HAD TO REPLACE BOTH BATTERY'S DUE TO THE HEADLIGHTS BE GROUNDED OUT AND DRAWING POWER. REPLACED BOTH BATTERY'S AND TOOK THE TRUCK DOWN THE STREET TO THE CORNER STORE AND CAME BACK HOME AND THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE AND FILLED WITH CONDENSATION FROM THE BALLAST HOLDING WATER AND HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY'S TO STOP IT FROM PULLING POWER. I HAVE A SCREEN SHOT FROM THE DEALER SAYING THE TRUCK HAS A 5 YEAR/100K MILE BASIC WARRANTY BUT NISSAN IS TELLING ME IT ONLY HAS A 3 YEAR/36K MIKE WARRANTY AND WILL NOT COVER IT AS THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY'S ARE $1200 EACH PLUS INSTALLATION. I HAVE ALREADY GOT A TICKET FOR THE LF HEADLIGHT BEING OUT AND A TICKET FOR DRIVING WITH HIGH BEAMS ON. CONSTANTLY HAVE A ERROR MESSAGE ON MY DASH AND ONLY HAVE FOG LIGHTS OR HIGH BEAMS. *TR
ON 05-01-2020 I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME ON I-59 NORTH AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING, ALTERNATOR AND A/C. I CONTINUE DRIVING BECAUSE I STILL HAVE MECHANICAL STEERING CONTROL I GET HOME AND I NOTED THE SERPENTINE BELT AND THE BELT TENSIOMETER WAS BROKEN, I ORDERED AND CHANGED AFTER REPAIRED I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON 05-07-2020 AND I NOTICE THE CAR IS NOT WORKING GOOD, I CHECK AND 1 OF THE BOLTS FROM THE STEERING PUMP ADAPTER WAS BROKEN, I TAKE TO THE DEALER AND AFTER A WEEK AND BE TALKING WITH NISSAN CASE NUMBER 40163453, WITH THE CAR INSIDE OF THE WARRANTY THEY SAY THE BOLT IS A HARDWARE AND IS NOT COVER BY THE WARRANTY, ALSO THE DEALER SAY IS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE REPAIR BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO REMOVE THE RADIATOR, I CHOOSE TO DO THE REPAIR BY MYSELF, I'M AN AIRCRAFT INSPECTOR WITH 39 YEARS' EXPERIENCE REPAIRING AIRPLANES. I FIX IN THE BEST WAY I KNOW, BUT THIS SITUATION CAN CAUSE A ACCIDENT SEE ATTACH PICTURES, ALSO THE ADAPTER PUMP HOLES ARE LITTLE BIG OF THE DIAMETER OF THE BOLTS WITH THE VIBRATION OF THE ENGINE (DIESEL) CAN CAUSE THIS BOLTS TO BE LOOSE. *TR

SAME PROBLEMS AS BEFORE WHICH I BELIEVE SOMETHING ELSE AGAIN IS WRONG WITH THIS TRUCK.MANY TITAN OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, DEALERSHIP STATE THEY CANT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE WHICH IF THEY TRIED THEY WOULD SUCCEED BUT TRYING AND HAVING A VEHICLE ONLY GET 5 MILES ON WHILE AT DEALERSHIP IS HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS.DEALERSHIP DOESNT FULLY LISTEN.TRANSMISSION HAS HAD A HARD KNOCK INTO GEAR SINCE DAY ONE AND WAS TOLD THAT'S NORMAL FOR MY TRANSMISSION.I SEE THE SAME PROBLEMS BEING SAID BY ALOT OF OWNERS AND NOTHINGS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. THE VEHICLE IS LOOSING POWER WHEN MAKING A SHARP RIGHT TURN. IT'S LIKE THE ENGINE IS CUTTING OFF FROM IT POWER SOURCE AND YOU FEEL THE ENGINE IS STALL READY TO CUT OFF. AT 70K MILES THE BOLTS HOLDING THE POWER STEERING PUMP BRACKET TO THE BLOCK EITHER SHEARED OFF OR FELL OUT ON DECEMBER 15, 2019. THIS LEAD TO PUMP FALLING OFF AND RIPPING BELT APART. BELT IS CURRENTLY WEDGED IN AC COMPRESSOR PULLEY. SAME ISSUE ADDRESSED ONE YEAR EARLIER, WHERE ONE BOLT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.
THIS TRUCK IS A DIESEL. EVERY TIME IT GOES INTO REGEN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WILL FILL WITH EXHAUST SMOKE AND FUMES. IT'S SO BAD IT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL SICK, AND GET A HEADACHE. I FEEL IT'S ONLY MORE NOTICEABLE IN REGEN BUT THE PROBLEM IS ALWAYS PRESENT, DUE TO THE FACT THAT WHEN IT SITS IDLE EQ. WAITING FOR WIFE IN STORE THAT I WILL GET A BAD HEADACHE. I DID NOT CONNECT THE TWO ISSUES BUT IT IS MORE APPARENT WHEN IN REGEN DUE TO A LARGER AMOUNT OF EXHAUST BEING PRODUCED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY NISSAN (2 DIFFERENT DEALERS IT'S NORMAL AND NOT DANGEROUS) THERE IS A CASE ON FILE WITH NISSAN MOTORS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. HAD IT IN TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE . ASKED THEM IF TOOK IT ON THE FREEWAY OR HARD ACCELERATION FROM A STOP? SAID NO ROADS WERE WET AND DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THAT. AS MY COMMUTER VEHICLE THAT IS HOW IT IS DRIVEN. AS SOON AS I LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP TO GET ON A VERY BUSY ROAD . EITHER WAY FOR EVER OR ACCELERATE HARD TO GET OUT IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC. IT LUGGED OUT THEN AND GETTING ON THE FREEWAY TO GET HOME
THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT INTERSECTION. SOMETIMES BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLET STOP AND IS DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENS AT MID CROSSING POINT OF INTERSECTION.

TODAY WAS THE FOURTH TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER HAS A NEW TURBO ON ORDER BUT IS NOT CONFIDENT THIS WILL CURE THE ISSUE. THE PREVIOUS EPISODE NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BY A DISTRACTED DRIVER WHEN I COULDN'T ACCELERATE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION LEFT TURN WITH PLENTY OF SPACE AND TIME. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS NO RESPONSE TO THE ENGINE AND THERE IS NO PRIOR WARNING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MAY OR MAY NOT ILLUMINATE. TODAY THE ENGINE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHEN ACCELERATION FROM A DEAD STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE TRUCK NEVER ACHIEVED MORE THAN 10 MPH AND WHEN I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE DIED. LUCKILY I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND IT WAS DOWNHILL SO I COULD COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION TO THE SHOULDER. I PLACED THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT TO MY HOME.

UPON PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM THE DEALER, A STRONG DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR WAS NOTED WITHIN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. AFTER BRINGING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WITH THE COMPLAINT, I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE SIMPLY NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK FROM THE DEALER, AND HAVING THE SOFTWARE UPDATE PERFORMED, THE VEHICLE STILL PRODUCED STRONG DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR WITHIN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. SINCE THAT FIRST ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE, I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS (4+ TIMES). NO DEALER HAS BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND GET RID OF THE DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR WITHIN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. FINALLY, I LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITHIN THEM FOR OVER 2 MONTHS NOW, BUT THEY ARE LITTLE HELP. THEY KEEP DELAYING ADDITIONAL EXPERTISE ON THE ISSUE AND HAVE DENIED MY CLAIM FOR A "BUYBACK", ASKING NOW THAT I REPLICATE THE ISSUE WITH A 3RD NISSAN DEALER. I HAVE LITTLE CONFIDENCE IN THEIR ABILITY AND/OR WILLINGNESS TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IN THE MEANTIME, I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND POTENTIALLY BREATHING IN UNSAFE LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE (OR OTHER TOXIC GASES ASSOCIATED WITH THE STRONG DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR CONTINUING TO BE RELEASED INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK). THE DIESEL EXHAUST ODOR IS VERY STRONG UPON COLD START-UP AND CONTINUES TO BE EMITTED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN (ALBEIT NOT AS STRONG AS UPON START UP). REGARDLESS, THE ODOR IS PREVALENT WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THAT DRIVING THE VEHICLE INTRODUCES A SIGNIFICANT HEALTH RISK TO BOTH THE DRIVER AND ANY PASSENGERS.

THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY INCIDENT IN TWO WAYS FOR PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS ON HIGHWAY. TEMPERATURE WAS 90 PLUS DEGREES AND SUNNY. VERY HOT.

I HAVE TAKING MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER SO MANY TIMES TO BE TOLD THE DEF SYSTEM GAUGE CAN NOT BE FIXED. ALL THE TRUCKS HAVE THIS ISSUE. I APPLIED FOR THE LEMON LAW AND WAS REFUSED. THE DEALER ACTUALLY CHARGED ME FOR A SET WHICH IS NOT THE OEM SET THEN REIMBURSE FOR THE CHEAPER SET.
COMING OFF A HIGHWAY AT AROUND 50 MPH THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A "POPPING" SOUND AND JERKING AS IF MISFIRING. CONNECTED A CODE READER TO TRUCK AND 5 ISSUES WERE FOUND. ENGINE CODES P0544, P244D, P242D & P242C WERE LISTED STATING "EXHAUST GAS TEMP SENSOR" AND "EXHAUST TEMP HIGH FOR DPF" ALONG WITH CODE P0204 "NUMBER 4 FUEL INJECTOR CIRCUIT OPEN". HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THE DIESEL MECHANIC STATED THE "GRAVED CONNECTOR F131 ON CYLINDER #4 WAS AT FAULT AND THAT THE CONNECTOR "SPREAD TERMINALS WERE CAUSING POOR CONTACT WITH INJECTOR". STATED THE ENGINE CONTROL HARNESS (WIRING HARNESS), NEEDED REPLACING. VEHICLE HAD ONLY ~62500 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME.

IT IS CURRENTLY IN DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR THE LAST 40 PLUS DAYS WITH THEM SAYING THEY CANT DETECT WHAT IT IS. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, I LOST ALL POWER STEERING IN MY TITAN XD. AFTER PULLING OVER AND LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD THE SERP BELT WAS SHREDDED AND ALL TANGLED UP. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE 3 BOLTS THAT HOLD THE POWER STEERING PUMP BRACKET TO THE ENGINE HAD ALL BROKEN OFF. THERE WERE MULTIPLE OTHER REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE ON THE TITAN XD FORUM. NISSAN DID NOT WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH I FELT THIS WAS A LARGE SAFETY HAZARD LOOSING POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THIS TRUCK IS VERY HARD TO STEER WITH NO ASSIST.

OUR 2016 NISSAN TITAN XD WAS IDLING ON A LEVEL CARPORT WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. NO ONE WAS IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. I WAS UNLOADING TOOLS FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. AFTER ABOUT 5-7 MINUTES, WHILE I WAS STANDING IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO ROLL VERY SLOWLY BACKWARDS. IT ROLLED OVER A SMALL CONCRETE BUMP (INTENDED TO PREVENT CARS FROM ROLLING OFF THE CARPORT), DOWN ABOUT A 6 INCH STEP DOWN, ACROSS ANOTHER 10 FEET OR SO OF CONCRETE AND INTO THE BRICK WALL AT THE BACK OF THE CARPORT. I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO SAFELY JUMP DOWN, OPEN THE TRUCK DOOR AND ENGAGE THE BRAKE. THE TOTAL DISTANCE THE TRUCK ROLLED WAS LESS THAN 10 YARDS. THE TAILGATE OF THE TRUCK WAS DAMAGED BADLY WHEN IT HIT THE BRICK WALL, BUT IT HELPED TO STOP THE TRUCK. WHEN I GOT INTO THE TRUCK TO DRIVE IT BACK UP ONTO THE PARKING AREA OF THE CARPORT, THE PARKING BRAKE WAS STILL ENGAGED. I DISENGAGED IT TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES IN THE PAST WITH THE ENGINE REVVING AND EXTREMELY HARD SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. THERE IS ALSO A HEAVY SMELL OF EXHAUST INSIDE THE CAB OF THE TRUCK VERY OFTEN. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE DOOR MOUNTED CONTROLS, BUT THE DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. I TRIED TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS USING THE DOOR LOCKS IN THE ARMREST, BUT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE KEY FOB REMOTE CONTROL, BUT DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. THE DOOR LOCK LEVERS WOULD FLIP FROM THE LOCKED TO UNLOCKED POSITION, BUT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. I STARTED AND STOPPED THE ENGINE TO RESET THE DOOR LOCKS, BUT THE DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. I LOWERED THE SIDE WINDOW AND ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. I USED MY KEY IN THE DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK AND OPEN. I REPEATED THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. OVER SOME MINUTES OF TRYING ALL THE ABOVE FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE TWO REAR DOORS FINALLY OPENED. THE DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK AND OPEN. AFTER CLIMBING BACK INTO MY VEHICLE VIA THE PASSENGER DOOR, I STARTED TO DRIVE HOME. AFTER ABOUT 3 MILES I HEARD THE SOUND OF THE DRIVERS DOOR UNLOCK AND THE DOOR ACTUALLY CRACKED OPEN ON ITS OWN. THE TRUCK PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE REMEDIED. WHILE ON VACATION IN FLORIDA IN JANUARY 2017 I HAD LOSS OF POWER TWICE BUT NO WARNING LIGHT. ON MARCH 31, 2017 , I DROVE TRUCK TO DOCTOR'S APPT AND AFTER APPT DTARTED TRUCK PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND TRUCK ENGINE POWER FAILED COMPLETELY. I GOT TRUCK TO NISSAN SERVICE DEPT. AND HAS BEEN THERE SINCE. NISSAN DOES NOT KNOW WHAT PROBLEM IS AND DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR TRUCK. I AM A 100 PERCENT DISABLED VETERAN AND AM NOT ABLE TO WALK VERY FAR. WHILE ACCELERATING REASONABLY (NOT MASHING THE ACCELERATOR) FROM A STOP SIGN TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION THE TRUCK WOULD ROLL FORWARD ABOUT 6-8 FEET THEN NOTHING (NO ACCELERATION, NO RPM REV, JUST DEAD) FOR 4-6 SECONDS. THEN WITH THE PEDAL STILL ABOUT 1/2 WAY DOWN THE TRUCK WOULD RESPOND AND TAKE OFF LIKE A ROCKET. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS A DRIVER SHOULD EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. THIS CAUSED ONE VERY NARROW NEAR MISS BY AN ONCOMING VEHICLE AS I SAT DEAD IN THE WATER IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION FOR 5 SECONDS. THE OTHER 2 OCCASIONS THERE WERE THANKFULLY NO ONCOMING VEHICLES. I NOW HAVE TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO OTHER VEHICLE IN SIGHT TO FEEL SAFE IN CROSSING AN INTERSECTION OR PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILL, IF THAT HAS NOT ALREADY HAPPENED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE ISSUE IS.

DRIVESHAFT BROKE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH. VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY AND SLOWED DOWN QUICKLY TO 20 MPH. HAD TO PULL OVER THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TO BE TOWED. VEHICLE HAD 16000 MILE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I FELT VERY UNSAFE AND WAS LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

TITAN XD WITH CUMMINS DIESEL AND AISIN TRANSMISSION HAS 4-10 SECONDS OF UNRESPONSIVENESS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COAST FROM 10-25MPH. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WITH MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC LEAVING US FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. THE PEDAL WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSIVENESS FROM THE TRUCK. NO DOWNSHIFT, NO ENGINE REVVING, NO ACCELERATION. IT WAS LIKE I HAD NOT EVEN PRESSED THE PEDAL. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO NISSAN AND MY DEALERSHIP WITHOUT RESOLUTION. ALSO THEIR IS A DELAY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS FROM 40-50MPH. THIS DELAY LAST 3-6 SECONDS AND THEN THE TRUCK WILL DOWNSHIFT TO THE WRONG GEAR, NOT ACCELERATING FOR AN ADDITIONAL 3-5 SECONDS, AND THEN WILL FINALLY DOWNSHIFT AGAIN TO THE CORRECT GEAR AND BEGIN ACCELERATING FOR A TOTAL DELAY FROM ACCELERATION COMMAND TO ACTUAL ACCELERATION OCCURRING OF 6-11 SECONDS. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MERGE (ASSUMING ON COMING TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT 55MPH) A 4-10 SECOND DELAY MEANS THAT THE DRIVER (ME) MIS-JUDGES THE SPACE AVAILABLE TO MERGER BY 322-806 FT. WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME BECAUSE I EXPECTED THE MY TRUCK TO ACCELERATE WHEN I TOLD IT TO AND NEARLY CAUSED ME TO HAVE A DRIVER SIDE COLLISION WITH HEAD ON TRAFFIC. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS (ASSUMING BOTH VEHICLES ARE DOING 55MPH) A 6-11 SECOND DELAY MEANS THE DRIVER (ME) MIS-JUDGES THE SPACE AVAILABLE TO PASS BY 968 - 1775 FT <-- THAT IS GREATER THAN 1/4 MILE OF GROUND CLOSED BETWEEN ME AND ON COMING TRAFFIC BEFORE THE TRUCK EVEN BEGINS TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAS ALSO LEAD TO A NARROWLY AVOIDED HEAD ON COLLISION ON A RURAL HIGHWAY. BOTH OF THESE CONDITIONS ARE EASILY REPEATABLE AND ARE NOT INTERMITTENT PHENOMENON.
THE VEHICLE THAT I DRIVE IS A 2016 NISSAN TIITAN 4X4 XD (THE DIESEL VERSION). MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 4000 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND AT SOME POINT WHILE DRIVING IT, A SMALL PEBBLE ENTERED THROUGH THE GRILL OF THE TRUCK AND CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER. THE RESULT OF THIS CONTACT POKED A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER AND CAUSED THE FREON TO LEAK OUT, WHICH RESULTS IN DAMAGE TO THE ENVIRONMENT. THE MECHANIC WHO WORKED ON MY VEHICLE HAS STATED THAT NISSAN HAS BEEN HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT AND IT IS A RESULT OF FAULTY WORKMANSHIP ON THE PART OF NISSAN IN THE GRILL THAT THEY CHOSE. THE GRILL HAS GAPS THAT ARE TOO LARGE AND ALLOWS FOR SMALL PIECES OF DEBRIS TO PASS THROUGH THEM WHICH CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE VEHICLE. NISSAN HAS FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THIS AS A PROBLEM AND THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY THE VEHICLE OR THE PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BECAUSE "IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT." THE MECHANIC FOR NISSAN SUGGESTED THAT I PLACE A MESH SCREEN BEHIND MY GRILL TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM AND SO THAT CONSUMERS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY $1,100 TO FIX THEIR AIR CONDITIONER BECAUSE OF FAULTY WORKMANSHIP ON THE PART OF THE MANUFACTURER
DIESEL SMELL COMING INTO THE CAB WHEN REGEN IS TAKING PLACE ITS SO STRONG AND THE FUMES ARE SO BAD I HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK ITS MY OPINION ITS CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IT IS GIVING ME RESPIRATORY TROUBLE FOR MY SELF THIS MUST BECOME A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE PASSES OUT FROM THE FUEL SMELL THE DEALER IS STILL WAITING FOR A ENGINEER SINS THERE IS NO FIX AND THE DEALER HAS NEVER HAD TO DO A REPAIR LIKE THIS THEY SAID WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND NEVER HAD A NEW TRUCK LIKE THIS SO I AM STUCK DRIVING IT AND DON'T KNOW WHEN I WILL GET A CALL BACK IT HAPPENS WHEN MOVING OR PARKED AND IT WORSE DRIVING
THE TRUCK IS LEAKING DIESEL FUMES INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE SMELL IS MORE NOTICEABLE DURING A REGEN. THE ODOR AND FUMES CAN BECOME VERY INTOXICATING IF STOPPED IN TRAFFIC TO THE POINT YOU WOULD NEED TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN OR EXIT THE VEHICLE FOR A BREAK.
THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS BECOME LOOSE FROM THE TRACK CAUSING THE SEAT TO MOVE WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURE CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL MOVEMENT FOR A POWER SEAT. THE SEAT HAS BROKEN FROM THE BASE AND WILL MOVE FREELY WHILE DRIVING.
I'M GETTING EXHAUST DIESEL FUMES IN THE CAB. IT OCCURS WHEN DRIVING SLOW AND WHEN IDLING. NOT ONLY MY TRUCK BUT THE TRUCK I TEST DROVE AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. THE PURCHASE WAS 12/24/2016. I BROUGHT THE TITAN BACK TO THEM AND ALL I'M GETTING IS LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY. THE STATEMENT TO ME IN WRITING WAS THAT WHEN THE REGEN SYTEM ACTIVATES FUMES ARE GETTING INTO THE CAB. WHEN I CALLED PENKE AUTO GROUB IN MICHIGAN AND NISSAN NATIONAL BOTH REPRESENTATIVES SAID THEY WILL CONTANT ME BEFORE NOON THE NEXT DAY. NOT ONE OF THEM RESPONDED BACK TO ME. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT NISSAN IN WEST WARWICK RI. IS THAT NISSAN WILL BE PUTTING A BULLETINS OUT IN THE NEXT 6 WEEKS AND ANOTHER OUT IN APRIL. I WAS TOLD NOT TO USE THE FRESH AIR AND USE RECIRCULATION BOTTON. THIS IS CLEARLY IS IRRESPONSIBLE BY NISSAN OF MY LEGITIMATE COMPLIANT AND A HEALTH, ESPECIALLY A SAFETY ISSUE TO THE MOTORING PUBLIC. I DRIVE TRACTOR TRAILER FOR A LIVING. IF AN DOT OFFICER INSPECTS MY VEHICLE AND FINDS A EXHAUST LEAKING INTO THE CAB I'M IMMEDIATELY PUT OUT OF SERVICE.
VEHICLE LOST POWER ON HIGHWAY AND WOULD NOT EXCEED 40MPH WITH FULL ACCELERATION, WAS ABLE TO LIMP VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. WAS TOLD DPF REGEN TRIGGERED ENGINE FAIL-SAFE CAUSING LOSS OF POWER. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE VISIBLE DURING INCIDENT. DEALER DOES NOT KNOW CAUSE OF ISSUE BUT WAS ABLE TO RESET VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND HAS NO CLEAR FIX.
ON NOVEMBER 2, 2016, I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 NISSAN TITAN XD (DIESEL) ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN ON ME. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES). I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT REMAINS TO THIS DAY (NOVEMBER 30). THE DEALERSHIP, ALONG WITH ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN, HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR OR RESTART THE VEHICLE TO DATE. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THE FUEL HAS BEEN TESTED AND WAS DETERMINED TO BE CLEAN DIESEL AND PROBLEM FREE. THE FUEL RAILS WERE FIRST REPLACED, WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS. THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS THEN REPLACED, AGAIN WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS. MY LAST CONTACT WITH THE DEALERSHIP WAS ONE WEEK AGO, AND I WAS TOLD THE NISSAN ENGINEER'S FELT THE FUEL SYSTEM/ENGINE WAS NOT GETTING "PRIMED" AND THEY WERE GOING TO LOOK INTO THAT SYSTEM. STILL,, THE VEHICLE REMAINS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO START THEN VEHICLE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED OTHER OWNERS OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE MAY OR MAY ALREADY HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED BECAUSE IT COULD RESULT IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT RESULTING IN INJURY, LOSS OF LIFE AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED EACH TIME IT RAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY RETAINED WATER, WHICH CAUSED THE HEADLIGHT TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
CUMMINS 5.0 LITER ENGINE MISSING OUT AT 1700 RPMS, YOU CAN REV THE DIESEL ENGINE TO 1700 RPMS AND THEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE UNIT STARTS MISSING OUT. BUT YET A CUMMINS ENGINEER STATED THAT SOME OF THEM DO IT, AND SOME DON'T. WELL BEING A CUMMINS TECH MY SELF I KNEW THIS WAS NOT TRUE. NISSAN REFUSES TO SEND THE TRUCK TO AN ACTUAL CUMMINS DEALER TO HAVE IT PROPERLY CHECKED OUT. SO U TOOK IT TO CROSS POINT CUMMINS DEALERSHIP HERE IN INDIANA THEIR DIAGNOSIS THE EGR FLAP IS STICKING ON THE CASTING AND CAUSING LOSE OF POWER , WITH EXCESSIVE REGENERATION DUE UNIT ONLY HAS 800 MILES ON IT. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE ISSUES!
DURING AN EMERGENCY STOP A LOUD POP WAS HEARD AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT SHIFTED FORWARD CAUSING THE DRIVER'S WEIGHT TO MOVE INTO THE FOOTWELL. AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED THE SEAT CUSHION BENEATH THE SEAT HAD RIPPED AND VISIBLE BITS OF FOAM WERE OBSERVED UNDER THE SEAT. TRUCK WAS BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE SEAT HAD RIPPED AND SEVERAL CLIPS HAD BROKEN OFF. DEALER RE-TORQUED SEAT RESTRAINING BOLTS AND REPLACED CLIPS AND SENT NOTICE TO MATERIALS ENGINEER AT NISSAN FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND ANALYSIS. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER THE SEAT HAS CONTINUED TO LOOSEN AFFECTING DRIVER STABILITY AND POSITIONING WHILE DRIVING. BROUGHT TRUCK BACK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD SEVERAL RESTRAINING BOLTS HAD EITHER SHEARED OR STRIPPED, SINCE IT COULD NOT BE DETERMINED WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE I WAS PUT INTO A RENTAL UNTIL AN INSPECTION COULD OCCUR. I AM STILL AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM NISSAN BOTH FOR THE INQUIRY AND FOR PARTS AND NISSAN HAS NOT RESPONDED TO EITHER. ISSUE AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEK WAS THEN REFERRED TO BBB AUTOLINE TO BEGIN BUYBACK PROCESS AS NISSAN HAS STILL NOT MADE FURTHER ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE NOR HAVE THEY PROVIDED A TIMELINE OF WHEN THAT MIGHT OCCUR.
