Water pump and thermostat housing inspected and needing to be replaced according to inspection by Volkswagen Welsey Chapel on this 2016 Jetta. The quoted repair needs immediate attention and costs $1025.46. A leaking water pump could also cause the engine to stop functioning while the car is in motion. Even if the driver pulled over, being stranded on the side of a highway waiting for a tow could be dangerous. I notified VW customer care and was directed NHTSA as there is no recall for this cars year. There were not warnings of this issue until noticed at inspection. Volkswagen has yet to issue a recall for this severe problem.
-The front right passenger electrical system that contains the wiring in order for the front headlight and front high beam to function properly suddenly started a short circuit and caused the front passenger light system wiring to catch fire to that part and the parts that surround it. The car is available for inspection at any time. -My safety was put at risk because my vehicle caught fire in a matter of seconds and spread so fast that it was impossible to stop the fire without requesting help of the Miami Gardens Fire Department that arrived on the scene as fast as they could a few minutes later. Other vehicles waiting at the traffic light were also put at risk because of the fire, smoke, and the hazardous wastes that could've possibly led to an explosion from the fire spreading over the whole right side of the engine. -The problem hasn't been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer; however, I do have a police report that states that the Miami Gardens Fire Department confirmed it was an electrical problem that started the fire and the severity of the damage that they believed was a total loss. The vehicle fire was able to be put out once the Miami Dade Fire Rescue got there and managed to stop the fire. The police officer inspected the vehicle once the fire was extinguished and was able to write the police report and gave me the police case #. -There was one warning light on on the driver dashboard that had appeared a week prior to the vehicle catching fire and it was that the front headlight bulb was not working and had to be replaced.
I got this vehicle at 36,000 miles and I have put 23,000 on it in one year. There have been no warning messages. I was in idle and my RPMs started jumping I put it in reverse ( jumping stopped) , then drive to have the vehicle get a mile or two down the road and completely die. I was rear ended . Got it into a repair shop to be told by a certified mechanic it was throwing codes for the camshaft as well as needing an evap purge at just under 60,000 miles.
This driver has been quoted for a new transmission by VW. There is an existing recall for 2013-2015 Jetta hybrids for the same symptoms as listed below. The issue was preceded by a check engine light and a service hybrid system light and inconsistent braking force that would often pose a system risk as regenerative braking would often stop working forcing the driver to quickly apply more pressure unexpectedly (almost resulting in front end accidents). Now , the car is jerky while stopping and still unpredictable in its application of brake force. When taking off from lights, occasionally the transmission will stop providing power from the hybrid system to the wheels forcing driver to stop and restart the car in the intersection resulting in near accidents. The car’s gas engine often will fail to start while driving resulting in a loss of power when the car’s hybrid battery is depleted. The driver has had to pull over to stop and restart the car. Failure to start often happens on first startup as well. The car will no longer remain in electric mode due to this issue and often cycles the engine on and off many times while sitting at red lights.
Unable to turn car off and remove key while ignition is in park. Cause the car to continue to run while trying to wiggle key out. Unable to remove key after moving steering wheel back and forth, placing care in neutral will not help and placing the care back in park does not fix the issue. This seems to be a known common issue and proposes a safety issue if driver is unable to turn care off. I’ve had this experience at 9pm during a time where no mechanical help is accessible. Major safety issue of leaving a care running idle for extended period of time. Issue definitely needs to be addressed
Driver side strut spring snapped. Car became undrivable and pulled to the left, body is very close to tire and spring could cause tire to blow out . Spring is rusted from the inside out Car is at dealership for repairs no warning at all just a rattle then a loud snap
My car has started not letting me remove my key from the ignition i cannot turn off my car! I have seen mulitple complaints about this issue with these cars and i dont understand why theres not a recall for it I will have to pay $900 to get a new ignition switch and ignition lock for something that is a known issue!! I should not have to pay that when all these complaints have been made for the same issue
Excessive oil consumption over a short period of time - inspected by auto mechanic and VW dealer - no leaks and no buring of oil noted. Loosing a quart over the period of one month after an oil change - warning light comes on but when you are alone on the highway at night you cant always pull over.

I had hit snd run By this car. IT looks like that Driver had attention to hurt me Moving in same line, I Made him space behind me than he hit on back, I was tih king tha he/she was trying to escape he moved again in right line but he again started to move in left side where I was driving. I hit part of shoulder and there is a damege on my car from the back side and both left side how he/she hit me and right side how I hit on shoulder. Than he/she was trying to run as crazy trought crowd but my car got only body damages and I was able to run after him/her and wrote down License plate. I am a Remitter agent, I was able to find only lien holder for this car but not yet the assigned owner. Hopfully I can get same help from you. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while the vehicle was being serviced for an inspection, she was informed that the horn was not functioning properly. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and had the horn repaired however, the failure recurred. The independent mechanic informed the contact that there was water in the horn and the horn needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,937.
After owning the tires for 35000 miles the tires started to split on all four. Shaking was notice about a week before 5/22/21 when i got up to 65 miles an hour on the interstate. Tread life was good on the tires and the tire shop helped me get new ones. I had no warning and I rotated my tires every 4000 miles or so.

IN APRIL 1 2021 I WAS DRIVING FROM HOME TO MY JOB IN DCH TUSTIN ACURA DELAR IS 10 MIN DRIVE WHEN I TAKE THE EXIT OF FREEWAY I PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE CAR DON'T BRAKE , THE PEDAL GO ALL WAY DOWN AND THE CAR DON'T STOP , A TECHNICIAN SAID THAT IS A PROBLEM WHIT THE MASTER CYLINDER . WHAT CAN I DO NOW?.
UPON GOING TO THE BANK, I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF OR EVEN GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE HOME ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF OR GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAD TOTAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WATS INFOMED THAT THEY HAD TO ORDER A PART, WHICH IS GOING TO COST A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY.
BEGINNING AT 60K MILES I REALIZED THAT MY JETTA SPORT 1.8L BEGAN TO CONSUME OIL AT A MUCH HIGHER RATE THAN USUAL SO MUCH SO THAT I TOOK IT TO MY NEARBY DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT LOOKED AT. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO LEAKS AND THAT THE OLDER VW'S GET THE MORE THEY BURN OIL. HOWEVER, THEY REFERRED TO THE OIL BURNING AT AROUND A QUART EVERY 5,000 MILES BUT MY CAR IS BURNING OIL AT 5 TIMES THAT SPEED OF A QUART EVERY 1,000 MILES. I HAVE TO KEEP A QUART OF OIL IN MY CAR AT ALL TIMES AND IT IS BEGINNIGN TO BECOME EXPENSIVE. I TRAVEL BETWEEN STATES OFTEN AND DO THE ARIZONA-INDIANA AND BACK TRIP ONCE A YEAR SO IT DOES HAVE MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES ON IT.

SAFETY RISK: LEAKING FUEL, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, MAY RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE." MY CAR ALARM GOES OFF CONSISTENTLY WITHOUT ANY SIGNS OF BEING TAMPERED WITH. IF I TOUCH THE FUSE BOX OR OPEN MY DOORS THE ALARM WILL GO OFF WITH THE CAR UNLOCKED. WHILE THE CAR IS STARTED THE ALARM WILL GO OFF. ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT MY ALARM IS GOING OFF. IT KEEPS NOT ONLY MY FAMILY AWAKE BUT ALSO MY NEIGHBORS.
SEAT BELTS NO LONGER WORKING EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER SIDE. PASSAGES SIDE WILL NOT LOCK AND POPS OUT. ALL THREE BACK SEAT BELTS ARE STUCK AND WILL NOT RELEASE. I'VE HAD THE CAR ONLY A YEAR PURCHASED FROM DRIVETIME. THEN MY KEY GOT STUCK IN MY IGNITION AND COULD NOT TURN CAR OFF HAD TO RUSH TO DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THE ISSUES HAD TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER. HE PULLED OVER AND CALLED TGE TOW TRUCK AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO VOLKWAGEN THE SERVICE MANAGER SUGGESTED THAT I REACH OUT TO VOLKSWAGEN TO SUBMIT A CLAIM BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS TOO EARLY FOR THAT KIND OF FAILURE.
THE CAR SEEMED TO HAVE A SUSPENSION PROBLEM. ROTORS AND STRUTS WENT OUT VERY FAST ON VEHICLE
WE HAVE A 2016 VW JETTA TSI 1.4L (EA211 ENGINE) WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. AT APPROXIMATELY 98,000 MILES, FUEL STARTED LEAKING FROM THE FUEL RAIL AREA, SLOWLY AT FIRST, JUST A SCENT OF FUEL. NEXT DAY, AT THE END OF THE DAY'S DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE JUST BEFORE MY EXIT ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A STRONG SMELL OF GAS. IT LIMPED 3 MILES HOME AND DIED AS I PULLED INTO THE DRIVE. WHEN WE MANAGED TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN IT GUSHED FUEL FROM THE FUEL RAIL AREA. THERE IS A PENDING RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT VOLKSWAGON DECLINED TO DO ANYTHING BEYOND A NORMAL PAID-FOR REPAIR WITH POTENTIAL REIMBURSEMENT (NOT GUARANTEED) UNTIL THE RECALL ISSUES LEAVING US WITHOUT A VEHICLE. WE HAVE A VIDEO DOCUMENTING THE FUEL LEAK.
TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTERS ARE STUCK IN THE OPEN OR CLOSE POSITION. THIS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO OVER HEAT. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN CAR IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.

MY RADIO IN MY VW IS COMPROMISED. THE INDIVIDUALS IDENTITY THEMSELVES AS FBI AGENTS AND WHEN I SPEAK BACK TO AGENTS I AM TOLD, ' I'M NOT SUPPOSE TO SPEAK BACK TO AGENTS.' (CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG) THE VOLUME IN MY CAR IS BEING ADJUSTED AT THE CONFIDENCE OF THE AGENTS. WHEN THE AGENTS PUT THE VOLUME UP I CAN HEAR LOWER THE SPEAKER, WHICH INITIATES THE VOLUME BEING RAISED INSIDE MY CAR. WHEN THE VOLUME IS LOWERED INSIDE MY CAR BY THE AGENTS, IT ALLOWS THE AGENTS TO HEAR WHAT I'M SAYING INSIDE MY CAR. (MY ASSUMPTION) TODAY I TRIED ADJUSTING MY TREBLE, BASS AND MID-RANGE VOLUME AND WAS ABLE TO BUT NO CHANGES TO MY SYSTEM OCCURRED. THE SAME SITUATION IS OCCURRING WITH MY APPLE IPHONE WHEN I LISTEN TO MUSIC THROUGH AIR PODS VIA BLUETOOTH AND WIRED PODS. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD BY THE AGENTS 'I SHOULD BEEN SHOT,' I DO FIND THIS VERY ALARMING AND A VIOLATION OF MY U.S. CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.

EVER SINCE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ONE YEAR AGO, I NOTICED THAT MY CAR HAS TROUBLE STARTING. IT IS A PUSH-TO-START CAR, AND SOMETIMES IT CUTS OFF AND I HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON TO HAVE IT RESTART. IT HAPPENS DURING ALL TYPES OF WEATHER, AND I'VE HAD THE BATTER TESTED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS IN GOOD STANDING, AND THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THIS LAST ONE YEAR OF HAVING THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO DO THAT WAS LITERALLY WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF BUYING THE CAR. FURTHERMORE, THE RANGE FEATURE THAT GIVES YOU AN AUTOMATIC READING OF THE GAS GAUGE IS INACCURATE. WHEN I FILL UP THE TANK IF SOMETIMES READS OVER 300 MILES, AND THEN SOMETIMES IT READS OVER 400; AND THEN WHEN THE GAS IS LOW AND NEARING EMPTY, IT NOTIFIES ME AT 30 MILES LEFT TILL EMPTY BUT THEN RAPIDLY DROPS TO 15 OR LESS BY INCREMENTS OF 5.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TWO UNKNOWN SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
MY KEY KEEPS GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WONT COME OUT. I HAVE TO LEAVE MY CAR RUNNING FOR HOURS UNTIL THE KEY FINALLY COMES OUT.
ON JULY 1ST ,2020 UPON ARRIVAL TO A STORE ONCE IN PARK AND I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL MEANING THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE SHUT OFF AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THINKING IT WAS LOCKED I FINALLY GOT THE CAR TO SHUT OFF AFTER GOOGLING IT AND READING MANY OTHER FORUMS THAT TALKED ABOUT THE SAME CAR ISSUE I WAS HAVING IT SAID TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THEN TO TURN THE KEY SO I DID AND IT FINALLY SHUT OFF IT STAYED PARKED TILL JULY 6 TH THAT I WENT TO A FEW DIFFERENT MECHANICS IN TOWN I FOUND ONE THAT TRIED TO HELP SAME WITH HIM HE COULD NOT TURN THE KEY TO SHUT THE CAR OFF HE ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BEING THAT IT WAS AN HOUR AWAY AND I WAS LOW ON GAS I HAD TO PUMP GAS WITH THE CAR RUNNING BECAUSE I AGAIN WAS NOT ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF WHICH I FELT UNSAFE DOING BUT AT THIS POINT I NO LONGER KNEW WHAT TO DO I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE LEAVING SHE SAID THEY WERE BACKED UP BUT TO COME DOWN AND THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP UPON ARRIVAL AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT HELP ME UNTIL FRIDAY!! WHILE THE WORKER WAS SITTING IN MY CAR AND HE HIMSELF COULD NOT SHUT OFF I TOLD HIM WHERE IN THE PARKING LOT SHOULD I LEAVE IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WAY THAT I COULD TAKE IT HOME AND LEAVE IT RUNNING FOR 3 DAYS THEY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING AND ALREADY HAD THE HOOD UP TRYING TO SHUT THE CAR OFF THEY CALLED AND SAID IT WOULD BE 740.00 PLUS TAXES MIND YOU IT ALREADY HAD A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR THE 13TH FOR 2 RECALLS IT HAD ALREADY.
I DRIVE A 2016 VW JETTA ,MY EPC LIGHT CAME ON.WHEN I MADE AN APPT WITH THE VW DEALER, THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON MY CAR WITH THE CODE P22630,WHICH IS THE TURBOCHARGER /BOOST. DECLINED REPAIR AND WAS LATER CONTACTED WITH AN OFFER TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR FOR 50% OF THE ORIGINAL QUOTE. REPAIR HAS STILL NOT BEEN MADE WHILE I GET SMART ABOUT THIS.

THERE WERE A FEW OTHER ODDITIES AT TIMES WITH THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM OF THE JETTA. ON MY HOME STOP BY WALMART AND THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. DIDN'T GO IN THE STORE AGAIN JUST WENT HOME AND IT STILL WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. SINCE MY NEIGHBOR HAS 2 VW CARS I WENT TO HIS HOUSE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2016 PASSET. HE CHECKED ON MY CAR AND TRIED TO GET THE KEY OUT AFTER WE CALLED STOKES VW ON ASHLEY PHOSPHATE RD. THE SERVICE PERSON SUGGESTED BRINGING IT IN AN LEAVE IT BUT DIDNT HAVE A LOANER CAR FOR ME TO GET TO WORK..HE SUGGESTED JIGGLING THE KEY WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL BECAUSE THATS WHAT THET DO. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. IN A STORE PARKING LOT. ALSO THE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP THIS INCIDENT HAPPEN ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I PURCHASE THE CAR. I THOUGHT MAYBE BECAUSE IT WAS AFTER 5 IN THE MORNING. IT HAPPEN AGAIN AND THEN IT HAPPEN AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT GO UP IT WAS OVER 8 HOURS BEFORE IT DID AND I NEEDED TO GO BACK TO WORK AND LEAVE MY CAR WINDOW DOWN. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN VW.
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION WHILE VEHICLE IS STILL ON, IT CAN'T BE TURNED OFF. THIS HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN PARKED POSITION.
WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A LARGE PARKING LOT, AS SOON AS I STARTED THE TURN, MY CAR ACCELERATED DRAMATICALLY CAUSING THE CAR TO JUMP THE CURB AND HIT THE CONCRETE BASE OF A LIGHT POLE HEAD ON. AIRBAGS WERE NOT DEPLOYED. INSURANCE DECLARED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. I DID CONTACT VW CUSTOMER CARE WHO HAS TOLD ME MY ISSUE HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED, HOWEVER, NEITHER VW OR MY INSURANCE COMPANY LOOKED ANY FURTHER AT THE VEHICLE FOR ISSUES.
TODAY (NOV14, 2018) WHEN I BRAKED TO AVOID RUNNING INTO A BRAKING CAR IN FRONT OF ME, THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO REDUCE SPEED AT ALL. IT RESULTED IN A CRASH THAT DEPLOYED 5 AIR BAGS OF MY CAR. THE SAME CAR HAD A SIMILAR ACCIDENT IN WHICH BRAKE DIDN'T WORK ON MARCH 7, 2018.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HEARD A LOUD BOOM SOUND. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARED IT A TOTAL LOSS. THE DRIVER WAS SLIGHTLY INJURED ALONG WITH THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE, BUT NEITHER MOTORIST RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS KEPT BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY FROM JULY TO OCTOBER 2018 BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT LOCATE THE VEHICLE IN THE SALVAGE YARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST UNTIL THEY HEARD FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
AT 32,000 MILES THE CLUTCH STARTED SLIPPING. EVEN THOUGH COVERED UNDER WARRANTY I WAS TOLD MY MY LOCAL VW DEALER AND BY VW OF AMERICA THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO PULL THE CAR APART TO DETERMINE IF IT IS COVERED. IF THEY DETERMINE IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR IT WON'T BE COVERED AND I'M OUT $1100 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. MEANWHILE THE VW FORUMS I'VE BEEN ON PINPOINT A WEAK CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE (DESIGN FLAW) AS THE SOURCE OF THE SLIPPING. THAT MAKES SENSE SINCE I'VE NEVER HAD A CLUTCH SLIP IN MY PREVIOUS 6 MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS AND TWO OF THOSE VEHICLES MADE IT TO OVER 200,000 MILES. THERE IS NO WAY A CLUTCH SHOULD GIVE UP AT 32,000 MILES. THE SLIPPING OCCURS WHILE ACCELERATING IN A HIGH GEAR WITH 4 PEOPLE IN THE CAR. IT JUST STARTED THIS WEEK, BUT IS ALREADY GETTING WORSE. NEITHER THE DEALER OR VWOA COULD TELL ME THE CRITERIA THEY USE TO DETERMINE IF A CLUTCH IS COVERED, BUT THE NICE VWOA REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT SHORT OF THE CLUTCH FAILING IN THE FIRST YEAR THEY RARELY COVER THE FAILURE. SO I'M LEFT WITH A WARRANTY THAT ISN'T WORTH THE PAPER IT'S PRINTED ON.

THE ORIGINAL VW BATTERY LEAKED AND CORRODED RTHE CABLES SHORTING OUT THE CAR REQUIRING A TOW. IT WOULD NOT TAKE A JUMP AND AFTER TAKING IT TO A VW DEALERSHIP, THE BATTERY, CABLES AND STARTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO MY PREVIOUS VW.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE AND SLOWS TO A STOP. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND THE ACCELERATOR DOES NOT WORK. THE CAR WILL NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART. IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND ALLOWED TO SIT FOR 10-15 MINUTES IT WILL USUALLY RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES.
I BELIEVE MY CAR IS THE RESULT OF A RECENT SERIES OF BAD STORMS TO HIT THIS COUNTRY AND MY CAR. I BELIEVE MY CAR IS A FLOOD-CAR THAT HAS BEEN VERY WELL CLEANED INSIDE AND OUT, AND CLEANED SO WELL THAT THE TITLE GOT A GOOD WASH, KNOWN IN THE INDUSTRY AS TITLE-WASHING. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE IT CARRIED A GUARANTEE MAKING IT A CERTIFIED USED CAR. A CAR THAT CARRIES A CERTIFIED USED TITLE OF CONDITION THEN ONE WOULD EXPECT NOTHING LESS THAN PERFECTION. HOW I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF A FLOOD-CAR WAS THERE WAS WHAT LOOKED LIKE RIVER GRAVEL DEEP IN THE CARS DOOR SEAL AND THERE WAS A CLEAR WATER-LINE BEHIND WHERE THE MOVING PART OF THE STEERING-WHEEL ATTACHED TO THE CAR. NOW I'M UNSURE IF Y'ALL ARE ABLE TO HELP ME WITH THIS SITUATION, EVEN IF IT'S TO STEER ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO FIND RESOLUTION TO MY FLOOD-CAR ISSUE. I REALLY WANT ALL MY MONEY BACK AND START ALL OVER WITH SOMETHING LESS PRONE TO FLOOD WATERS.
THE REAR BRAKES CREATE A SUBSTANTIAL RESIDUE THAT IS NOTICEABLE OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AFTER EACH DRIVE. THE REAR BRAKES SQEAK AND SEEM TO BE WORN FROM THE GRINDING SOUND YET THE DISCS LOOK FINE. THE BRAKES DEFINITELY ARE FAULTY AND THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 17K ON IT. I HAVE ALSO GIVEN GONE THROUGH A TIRE AND SOON NEED TO REPAIR ANOTHER ONE FROM SIDE WALL DAMAGE AND IT IS AT THE SAME CONTACT POINT THAT THE WHEELS COME TO MEET THE OUTER TIRE. IT IS SLICING INTO THE TIRE BECAUSE OF HOW IT LAYS ON THE TIRE. SO THESE ALL MAY BE RELATED BUT THE REAR TIRES ARE NOT RIGHT. I HAVE A 1.8 SEL 17'ALLOY WHEELS WITH ALL/SEASON TIRES. THE SOUNDS COMENRANDOMLY BUT NOT WHEN BREAKING IN AN INCLINE OR FROM FAST SPEEDS.
3 TIMES CAR POPPED OUT OF 3RD GEAR WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION, NOTHING IN PARTICULAR BROUGHT THIS ON (NO BUMP IN ROAD, ETC), CAR HAS LESS THAN 7K MILES, BROUGHT TO VW DEALERSHIP AND AFTER DRIVING IT ONLY TWO MILES, THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT EVEN INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM. NOW THE ISSUE IS THAT SOMETIMES I CAN'T GET THE CAR INTO 3RD GEAR. CONTACTED NE VW REGIONAL MANAGER BECAUSE I WANTED IT IN WRITING THAT THEY WERE REFUSING TO SERVICE THE CAR. THOUGH I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE SENT A LETTER, I'VE RECEIVED NOTHING MORE THAN A MONTH LATER. OTHER PROBLEMS I HAVE WITH THE CAR INCLUDE THE TURN SIGNAL SOMETIMES NOT TURNING OFF RIGHT AWAY-SOMETIMES IT BLINKS RIGHT, BLINKS LEFT AND THEN FINALLY TURNS OFF AFTER 1 MIN OR SO AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP WHEN WEATHER WAS HOT THIS PAST SUMMER.

THE DELAY CAN BE AS LONG AS 5 SECONDS AND SINCE I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN, I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE. IT CAN FAIL TO ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC COMING AT YOU FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THEIR WAY. I FEEL I TAKE MY LIFE IN MY HANDS EVERY TIME I STEP INTO THIS VEHICLE AND RECOMMEND THAT ON ONE EVER BUY ONE OF THESE DEATH TRAPS!!!!

FIRST, BASIC ISSUE IS, AUTOMATIC GAUGE BACKLIGHT INTENSITY CONTROLS TILL ZERO WHILE DRIVING ON DAY TIME, BUT THE ZERO LEVEL UNDER DARKER AMBIENT LIGHTING SURROUND AREA IS PREVENTING DRIVER TO CHECK SPEED THAT VIOLATING THE REGULATION. SECOND, THE FACT THAT MANY OF VW MODELS WITH THIS LIGHTING SENSOR HAS THE SAME CONTROL OF THE GAUGE AND THIS REPORTING ISSUE IS NOT A SINGLE CAR OR A SINGLE MODEL YEAR ISSUE. WITH ABOVE FACT, I UNDERSTAND VW'S INTENTION AND IDEA IS RIGHT, CONTROLLING THE BACKLIGHT WHILE IN THE DAYTIME, BUT THE GAUGE BACKLIGHT IS WAY BELOW BRIGHTNESS THAN NIGHTTIME AND TILL ZERO BACKLIGHT, WHILE NEEDLES, GRAPHIC PANEL, AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM IS CONTROLLED AS IDEAL RANGE. AND AGAIN THIS HAPPENED WHILE BACKING UP IN MY APARTMENT PARKING LOT, PUT CAR INTO REVERSE TO BACK OUT, BREAK, WHEN TO PUT CAR INTO DRIVE AND CAR WENT INTO REVERSE. EACH TIME THE CAR HAS WENT INTO REVERSE WHILE IN DRIVE I HAVE HAD TO TURN OFF THE CAR COMPLETELY AND RESTART TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND THREATENING TO MY CAR, MY SAFETY, AND OTHER DRIVERS. DEALERSHIP CANNOT RECREATE PROBLEM AND SAYS THEREFORE THERE IS NO PROBLEM, VW CUSTOMER CARE IS NO HELP EITHER AS THEY SIMPLY KEEP TELLING ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP.

AFTER TOTALLY STOPPING CAR AT AN INTERSECTION AND THEN APPLYING A LITTLE THROTTLE THE CAR WILL START MOVING OUT INTO INTERSECTION, BUT IF I HAVE TO LET OFF ON THROTTLE AFTER STARTING OUT IN INTERSECTION FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER THE ENGINE WILL NOT RESPOND AND FOR A FEW SECONDS, IT WILL NOT MOVE LEAVING ME DEAD IN THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE. ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING BUT CAR WILL NOT MOVE FOR A FEW SECONDS. NO RESPONSE FROM THE THROTTLE.I TOOK IT INTO VW DEALER IN SAINT GEORGE UTAH ON !!/2/2016 AND HAD THEM CHECK IT OUT. THE MANAGER DROVE THE CAR AND SAID IT WAS OKAY NO PROBLEMS. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT WHEN IT DOES OCCUR IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. MECHANICS AT VW WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT . THEY SAID IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE TRANSMISSION.THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IN THEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES. THESE CARS ARE TO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE ROADS.

I AM A VW FAN AND I AM HAVING SERIOUS ISSUES WITH REGARDS TO MY VW JETTA 2016 1.4. EVER SINCE MY 1ST SERVICE I ADVISED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT MY BREAKS ARE MAKING A NOISE AND EVERY TIME THEY SAY IT WAS FINE. THERE IS A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT SIDE WHEN IT IS SWITCHED ON AND STAYS ON AND GETS WORSE AS YOU DRIVE. WHEN I PURCHASE THE CAR THAT SOUND WAS NOT PRESENT. AGAIN I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, IT IS THAT WAY WAS MEAN TO SOUND THAT WAY AND THAT WAS NORMAL. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND SPOKE TO VARIOUS PEOPLE THAT HAVE KNOWLEDGE ON VW AS WELL AS A PREVIOUS SERVICE MANAGER WHO TOLD ME THAT IS AN ISSUE THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO NO FACE IT. I WAS NOT PLEASE TO THEIR RESPOND THE CAR HAS 2,780 MILES ON IT AND 6 MONTHS SINCE I DROVE IT OUT OF THE LOT I ASK THAT SOMEONE DO REALLY NEED TO ADDRESS THIS. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WILL BE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM VW CORPORATION THAT WILL BE COMING AND THAT HE WOULD BE THE ONE TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. THIS SAY IN OCTOBER 2016 TODAY IS APRIL 2 2017. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THAT TO HAPPEN TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED I AM SURE I WILL TOLD NOW IS CLOSE TO YEAR OH YOUR WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THAT I WILL SIT WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FIXING IT MYSELF. I SEE THAT HAPPENING I WANT MY CAR FIXED PROPERLY AS I NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH VW BEFORE BUT I AM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED AND WORRY ABOUT MY SAFETY. I DROVE INTO A PARKING LOT 27MARCH 2017 AND PROCEEDED TO PARK MY JETTA IN A PARKING SPOT HOWEVER, AS I WAS DOING SO THE CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD AND LEAPED THE CURB. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL IT HIT 2 VEHICLES WITH MY FOOT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND AS THE CAR IMPACTED THE OTHER CARS.
2016 JETTA SE1.4 NEW FOR 18 YEAR OLD SON FOR COLLEGE. WITHIN A WEEK CAR WAS IN THE SHOP WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES FOR LIGHTER AND USB SHORTING OUT PHONE + RADAR WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVING. NO ISSUE FOUND WE DROVE 1000+MILES TO SCHOOL, CENTER CONSOLE WOULD BLINK ON AND OFF DURING THE TRIP. NEW DEALER ALSO DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. CAR THEN STARTED SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING UNDER 5 MPH IN TRAFFIC IN NYC. WHEN COMING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY THE REAR VIEW CAMERA TURNED OFF, THE CAR TURNED OFF. VW WAS CALLED THEY HAD HIM TURN OFF THE POWER BY HOLDING THE PUSHBUTTON AND BREAK WHICH RESTARTED THE CAR. NEW DEALER STILL NO ISSUE FOUND. THE CAR CONTINUES TO LOOSE POWER ALL EXCEPT AUXILIARY SEVERAL INCIDENTS VERY UNSAFE. WAS GOING UP A HILL AND THE CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND STARTED ROLLING BACK, APPLIED THE HANDBRAKE THE BACK WHEELS LOCKED AND THE CAR STOPPED THANKFULLY IT WAS AT NIGHT AND NO TRAFFIC. TWO DAYS LATER AT JFK IN THE ARRIVAL LINE THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE CREEPING FORWARD. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER NEW DEALER THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR ONE WEEK, NO ISSUE FOUND. ISSUES CONTINUED NOW INCLUDING SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR REVVING TO 8000RPM, HAVING TO PUSH FAR DOWN FOR THE BRAKE TO ENGAGE. ALL THE LIGHTS TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING INTERMITTENTLY VERY UNSAFE. TOOK IT TO NEW DEALER THEY FOUND NO ISSUE I REFUSED TO PICK IT UP AND CALLED VW CORP THEY HAD THEM DRIVE THE CAR FOR 50 MILES FINALLY AN ERROR MESSAGE. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID. IT IS STILL HAVING ISSUES.THE CAR OVERHEATED AND THE ELECTRICAL STOPPED WORKING. HE SMELLED THE COOLANT THREW THE VENTS HE WAS ABOUT TO PULL OVER WHEN THE CAR REVVED TO 8000 RPM AND DROPPED OUT OF GEAR SO HE PULLED OVER AND SLOWED DOWN THE LIGHTS AND RADIO TURNED OFF. WHEN HE LOOKED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS GLOWING RED. THE CAR TOOK AN HR TO COOL DOWN AND ELECTRICAL TO COME BACK. BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN NO ISSUES AGAIN CALLED VW CORP FOR COMPLAINT. *TR

I JUST PURCHASED A 2016 VW JETTA S 1.4 GASOLINE TURBO ENGINE ON 3/5/16. IT HAS UNDER 400 MILES ON IT WITH LIGHT DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITHIN A WEEK OF PURCHASE AND WAS TAKEN TO VW DEALER SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. I WAS TOLD ISSUE WAS "DEFECTIVE BRAKE VACUUM AND RELAY". THERE IS CURRENTLY AN NHTSA OPEN RECALL (23R1) THAT APPLIES TO THE 1.8 AND 2.0 TURBO GASOLINE ENGINE, BUT IT SHOULD CLEARLY INCLUDE THE 1.4 TURBO GAS ENGINE. THIS IS A MAJOR, SAFETY CRITICAL ISSUE TO SELL A CAR WITH. BRAKE FAILURE COULD LIKELY LEAD TO FATALITIES DRIVING IN EITHER HIGHWAY OR CITY CONDITIONS THE JETTA 1.4 TURBO GAS ENGINE MODEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED WITH RECALL 23R1, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V705000 I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING THE CAR TO EXPERIENCE BRAKE FAILURE, COLLISION OR DEATH. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE IN A NEW CAR AND HAS CAUSED ME TO LOSE FAITH IN THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.
JETTA ENGINE QUIT RUNNING WITH NO NOTICE IN BUSY HIGHWAY. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. CAR WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THREE WEEKS. THEY CITED LACK OF FUEL SYSTEM MANAGEMENT COMPUTER MODULE. IT WOULD TAKE 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS TO GET. FUEL COMPUTER MODULE AND FUEL PUMP WERE REPLACED. HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN CAR SAFETY. VW WILL NOT REPLACE PER MY REQUEST. MY WIFE IS FEARFUL OF DRIVING CAR SINCE SHE WAS TRAUMATIZED.

UNABLE TO MAKE A DECISION PROMPTLY IF THE CAR STARTS TO HEAT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. THE CAR APPARENTLY HAS A MECHANISM TO LOWER THE RPMS IF THE CAR STARTS HEATING AND HAS A LIGHT INDICATING THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM BUT IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT IN 2016 YOU CAN'T SEE THE ENGINE TEMERATURE. I DIDN'T NOTICE THIS WHILE TESTING THE CAR BEFORE DOING THE PURCHASE AND THOUGHT IT WAS A MATTER OF CONFIGURATION BUT CONFIRMED THIS WITH THE MANUAL. THIS CAR HAS 85 MILES AND WHEN RUNNING THROUGH A SLOPE IN RURAL AREA IF IT DECIDES TO DOWN SHIFT THERES A BUMP OR A KNOCK IN THE TRANSMUTATION AS IF YOU WERE ABUSING THE CAR AND THE MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION MOUNTS CAN'T HOLD ITS FORCE. IT REALLY FEELS AWFUL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS SHOULD HAPPEN SMOOTHLY BUT IT DOESN'T. I UNDERSTAND THAT IT WILL MAKE ITS OWN DECISION OF WHAT IS THE BEST GEAR IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ENOUGH TORQUE TO MANAGE THE SLOPE BUT THIS IS NOT NORMAL. THIS COULD BE A SING OF FUTURE FAILURE AND OF COURSE AN ACCIDENT CAN OCCUR. WOULD LIKE THIS TWO POINTS TO BE INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA.

Tenneco Automotive (Tenneco) is recalling certain Beck/Arnley Master Cylinders, part number 072-9831, sold as aftermarket or replacement parts for 2004-2018 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2012-2019 Volkswagen Beetle vehicles. The fluid seal crimp on the master cylinder may be insufficient, causing brake fluid to leak or the cylinder to come apart.
