Vehicle hesitates on accelerating from low speed. It is extremely dangerous and I have nearly been broadsided a number of times. From a rolling start at low speed, depressing the accelerator pedal has no effect.. it feels like an eternity until the engine comes to life. I would say at least two full seconds. And when it finally does come to life, it can be a neck-snapping shocking jolt that will cause passengers to scream. It is my belief that Jaguar Land Rover North America is aware of this issue but has not addressed it for 2018+ L494 Range Rover Sport's with the 5.0L Supercharged V8 engine. I have had the vehicle in at the dealer a number of times for this issue and they state that there is nothing wrong. This vehicle has 518hp and when the powertrain hesitates to respond to the accelerator pedal being depressed, it exacerbates an already very dangerous situation by ultimately slamming the car into gear in a very violent way. The powertrain / transmission is certainly not behaving normally. This is my 3rd Range Rover Sport with the 5.0L V8 engine, and neither of my two prior vehicles experienced this phenomenon. It seems to be applicable to the 2018+ models only. This must be fixed by Jaguar Land Rover!
Malfunction with SOS system Police have been notified multiple times while I was driving and police have come to my home 4 times in 3 days unable to communicate with SOS system to notify that I am not in distress. If I end up actually needing help I can not use the SOS which concerns me
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, MY VEHICLE WHICH IS AT 15,000 MILES AND ABOUT 18 MONTHS OLD, HAS BEEN FACING CONTINUOUS FAILURES ON ITS ELECTRIC AND ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS THAT AFFECTED THE AIR SUSPENSION SHUTTING DOWN, EMERGENCY BREAK LOCKING UP, SUDDEN SHUT DOWN OF THE MIDDLE MAIN CONSOLE, A SHUT DOWN OF SAFETY FEATURES AROUND MIRRORS AND SIMILAR VEHICLE SAFETY WARNING SYSTEMS. THE ISSUES HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT BACK TO MY DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND EVEN THE LAST TIME AFTER SERVICE THE CAR CAME BACK WITH AN ENGINE WARNING SIGN. I MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WITH LAND ROVER TO CORRECT AND STATED THAT MY FAMILY AND I FEEL VERY UNSAFE AND INSECURE NOT KNOWING WHAT CAN BREAK DOWN NEXT. WHEN WE ASKED IF IT IS SAFE THE COMPANY RESPONDED THAT WE SHOULD MAKE THAT DETERMINATION WITHOUT AN ENGINEERING OR TECHNICAL BACKGROUND. THE COMPANY ALSO SAID THEY WILL TAKE 30 BUSINESS DAYS TO REVIEW OUR CASE HOWEVER UPON SEVERAL REMINDERS THAT WE ARE NOT FEELING SAFE, LAND ROVER OPTS TO IGNORE OR STATE THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE RESOURCES IE PEOPLE TO REVIEW THESE CASES. I WOULD LIKE TO ENTER INTO RECORD THAT WE DID MAKE MANY ATTEMPTS TO RELAY OUR CONCERNS AND IF THERE ARE TO BE ANY ACCIDENTS IT IS THE FAULT OF THE COMPANY FOR CONTINUOUSLY IGNORING THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE CASE AND TOTAL LACK OF CARE FOR PASSENGER SAFETY. I AM WRITING ON THIS VENUE HOPING THAT YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO CONVINCE THE COMPANY TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE MATTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LAND ROVER OF CHANTILLY (4120 AUTO PARK CIR, CHANTILLY, VA 20151, 703-679-4000) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TO BE SERVICED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2018 RANGE ROVER SPORT. I BOUGHT THE CAR ABOUT 11 MONTHS BACK FROM LAND ROVER OF SAN ANTONIO. IT CURRENT HAS JUST OVER 9,000 MILES. I ALONG WITH MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING IN HOUSTON ON THE BUSY IH-10 FEEDER LANES AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN LEFT ON GESSNER ROAD, THE STEERING OF MY CAR LOCKED FOR A FEW SECONDS, AND THEN CAME BACK TO NORMAL FUNCTION - IN THAT SPLIT SECOND MY CAR SLIPPED INTO THE NEXT TURN LANE. FORTUNATELY, THE CAR TURNING IN THAT LANE WAS BEHIND US, AND SO WE AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. RIGHT THEN I SAW SOME VERSIONS OF THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES ON THE DISPLAY: "FORWARD ALERT NOT AVAILABLE" "AEB NOT AVAILABLE (OR WORKING)" "POWER STEERING FUNCTION REDUCED." RIGHT AFTER THE TURN THE STEERING AGAIN BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE. I BARELY MANAGED TO MANEUVER MY CAR INTO A STRIP CENTER LOT - IT TOOK AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF POWER TO TURN THE CAR AND HAD TO BE DONE IN MULTIPLE FORWARD AND REVERSE STEPS. SUBSEQUENTLY, I CALLED THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE LINE, AND THEY SENT A FLATBED TO TAKE THE CAR TO LAND ROVER HOUSTON CENTRAL ON OLD KATY ROAD. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AROUND DINNER TIME (7.30/8PM) ON SATURDAY, 5/11. THE DEALERSHIP, OF COURSE, WAS CLOSED BY THEN AND SO THE CAR IS PARKED THERE WAITING FOR SERVICE TO LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND SHE GENERALLY TRANSPORTS OUR KIDS IN IT. I WAS INCIDENTALLY DRIVING IT YESTERDAY AS WE ARE GOING TO A FAMILY EVENT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A BIG DEAL IF THERE WAS A CAR IN THE NEXT LANE TO US. IT'S HARD TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE CAR WOULD LOCK IT'S BASIC FUNCTIONALITY (STEERING) MIDWAY AT A DECENT SPEED. I LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE IS SOME REFERENCE TO A SAFETY RECALL (N227 (NHTSA 18V-625)) - NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED. WE RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION AT LEAST FROM ANYONE REGARDING ANY RECALL ON OUR CAR.
THE 2018 RANGE ROVER SPORT HAS NO FAILSAFE IN THE SOFT CLOSE DOOR MECHANISM; I FOUND THIS OUT THE HARD WAY. AS LONG AS THE LATCH CATCHES, THE SOFT CLOSE WILL ENGAGE. I WAS EXITING MY STATIONARY VEHICLE WHEN A GUST OF WIND HIT THE DOOR. MY HAND WAS STILL ON THE EDGE OF THE DOOR WHEN THE LATCH FOR THE SOFT CLOSE HIT. MY THUMB WAS CRUSHED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE FRAME. I FORCED MY THUMB OUT WHILE THE DOOR CONTINUED TO TIGHTEN UNTIL FULLY CLOSED. IT'S BEEN NEARLY A MONTH AND MY THUMB IS STILL PURPLE. IF THE CAR WOULD HAVE SENSED MY THUMB IN BETWEEN THE DOOR AND FRAME, AND STOPPED THE SOFT CLOSE, I COULD HAVE EASILY REMOVED MY FINGER WITH NO INJURY. INSTEAD, I SPENT THE NEXT 2 HOURS AT THE EMERGENCY ROOM. I HAVE IMAGES OF THE INJURY AND A VIDEO DEMONSTRATING THE SAFETY ISSUE. I AM PARANOID GETTING IN AND OUT OF MY RANGE ROVER AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS (ESPECIALLY YOUNG CHILDREN.) I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND SPOKEN TO THE MANUFACTURER. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE NO REJECTION MECHANISM ON SOFT CLOSE DOORS BECAUSE IT IS NOT A FEDERAL REGULATION. I ALSO LEARNED THAT THE HEAD MECHANIC AT THE SHOP EXPERIENCED A VERY SIMILAR INJURY WHILE WORKING ON A CAR WITH SOFT CLOSE DOORS. I WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS A PRODUCT RECALL OR A NEW REGULATION. FOR EXAMPLE, THE DOOR SILL OF CARS EQUIPPED WITH SOFT CLOSE COULD REQUIRE A WARNING STICKER OR THE SOFT CLOSE MECHANISMS COULD EVEN REQUIRE A REJECTION MECHANISM. I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE AND LAND ROVER IS NOT THE ONLY MANUFACTURER THAT HAS THIS FEATURE. OUR MERCEDES HAS A SIMILAR OPTION THAT HAS NO SAFETY MECHANISM AND A LADY IS SUING BMW BECAUSE SHE ALMOST LOST HER FINGER TO A BMW SOFT CLOSE DOOR. I DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO GO THROUGH THE PAIN THAT I FELT OR GET MORE SEVERELY INJURED. THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
THE BOTTOM SCREEN MODULE IN MY VEHICLE IS CONSTANTLY GOING OUT. I'M NOT ABLE TO OPERATE ANY OF MY CONTROL FEATURES IN THE VEHICLE. I'VE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY ASSISTANCE IN PREVENTING THIS ISSUE OR FIXING THIS ISSUE. THE SCREEN CONTROLS THE HEATING, AIR AND OTHER SAFETY OPTIONS SUCH AS THE DRIVE MODE, DEFROSTER AND ETC.
LOWER SCREEN MODULE IS GOING OUT
SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THERE IS A DELAY, VERY DANGEROUS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES
THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING AND IT DOES NOT GIVE A WARNING THAT THE SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONAL.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING NOTED EPISODES OF SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION FROM A STOP WITH VEHICLE WARNING LIGHTS. REPEATED DEALER VISITS FAILED TO DISCLOSE SOURCE OF ISSUE. FINALLY ON THE INTERSTATE FOR A RETURN DEALER VISIT HAD SUDDEN AND ALMOST TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER THAT RESULTED IN NEAR COLLISION. WAS ONLY ABLE TO OBTAIN SPEED OF 48 MPH WITH FULLY DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR. SECOND ISSUE IS EPISODES OF COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL TO INCLUDE TOTAL LOSS OF RADAR PROXIMITY WARNING SYSTEM WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. THIRDLY HAVE ONGOING ISSUES WITH TOUCH SCREEN VEHICLE CONTROLS, TRAILER TOW PACKAGE, FAILURE OF SURROUND CAMERA SYSTEM, PARK ASSIST SYSTEM FAILURE. IN THE FIRST 90 DAYS OF OWNERSHIP VEHICLE HAS NOT ONLY BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT ALSO HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERS POSSESSION OVER 50 DAYS. VEHICLE REMAINS AT THE DEALER AS UNSAFE TO DRIVE FOR ABOVE ISSUES THAT REMAIN ONGOING.
THE 2018 MODEL HAS A SIGNIFICANT THROTTLE DELAY WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR FROM A STOP, RESULTING IN DELAY IN MOVEMENT AFTER PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TURNING ONTO BUSY ROADS AND WHEN ACCELERATING AT STOP SIGNS, AS IT TAKES 1-2 SECONDS BEFORE THE CAR REGISTERS THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS BEEN DEPRESSED, AND THEN JOLTS FORWARD AT A HIGH SPEED TO "CATCH UP". TWO LAND ROVER DEALERS (WEST CHESTER PA AND WAYNE PA) HAVE CONFIRMED THAT NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT AND HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING SOLUTIONS FOR MONTHS. THE SERVICE MANAGER IN WEST CHESTER PA CONFIRMED THAT ONE OF THEIR SERVICE TECHNICIANS, WHEN TESTING THIS ISSUE, WAS ALMOST HIT BY A MOVING CAR IN FRONT OF THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE CAR HE WAS DRIVING DID NOT REACT SOON ENOUGH AFTER HE DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. THE WAYNE PA SERVICE DEPT CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS 0.8 SECOND THROTTLE DELAY WHEN TESTING ANOTHER CAR (NOT MINE). I FORMERLY SUBMITTED A CASE TO LAND ROVER JAGUAR OF NORTH AMERICA BUT THEY HAVE NOT YET RESOLVED THIS ISSUE. THESE CARS SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD WITH THIS ISSUE!
