The car has had 10 safety recalls with one being the suspension. The suspension problem hasn’t been fixed as the car makes a loud clunking noise when driving it. My car has been to Volkswagen twice and they stated that the car was fine and they have no solution for the sound. This really needs to investigated. I googled the noise to see what it was and there are a lot of people that are complaining about this noise. I just bought my car and I’m literally about to trade it in because of this.
The automatic emergency braking activated and slammed on the brakes, for no apparent cause. There were no cars, people, animals around. And luckily, no car was behind mine. This has happened NUMEROUS times previously, especially when going through roundabouts and downhill. This issue needs to be addressed by VW. I have mentioned it to service at a VW dealer, and they just tell you to turn off the front brake assist, but that is not a solution. Plus, you would have to turn it off EVERY time you start your car.
The contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated that while the cruise control was activated with a vehicle in the lane directly next to the vehicle or two lanes over, the Collision Avoidance System would determine that the vehicles were too close and the Crash Imminent Braking System would activate and stop the vehicle. The issue most recently occurred while driving 70 MPH causing the contact to aggressively depress the accelerator pedal. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who informed him that there was no malfunction detected. The contact spoke to the manufacturer who informed him that the issue was known however, there was no recall on the VIN for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
During the life of a 48 month lease, the EPC and emissions control module failed four times, placing the vehicle out of service for at least 40-days total. When these components failed, a message popped up stating there was a 4000 RPM max. The ability to accelerate was immediately lost, and actually the vehicle not let me exceed 2000 RPMs. I had to pull over and restart the engine in order to continue my journey. This was extremely hazardous.
My VW Tiguan was out of alignment, as happens to every car. Unfortunately, the VW Dealership informed me that I cannot get a simple alignment for $100 because VW requires calibration of the Adaptive Cruise Control any time an alignment is done. I could not find this anywhere in the Owner's Manual, nor are there any other warnings on the car or in any paperwork I signed. The VW dealership wanted an additional $400.00 (for a total exceeding $500) to provide both services. I am concerned about this 1) because VW does not communicate that this is a limitation of the ACC system, and 2) while an alignment should be the customer's responsibility to pay for, calibrating the ACC system should not. Anyone could go get an alignment done at a tire or brake shop for about $100 - what happens if they try to use their ACC afterwards and an accident happens? VW should cover ACC calibration as part of the limited warranty, and clearly warn customers not to perform one service without the other.
This vehicle's forward collision warning system is inaccurate and dangerous. It is very prone to errant activation. At least once a month, the vehicle's collision system would detect objects that were not there (often, when there was no traffic and also no roadway barriers like guardrails). These activations would result in the vehicle slamming on it's breaks, which culminated in warped brakes and premature wear on the vehicle. It was also hazardous to any vehicles driving behind me, as well as occupants of the vehicle - due to sudden jarring. My local VW dealer acknowledged this is a common problem with no solution, and not worth doing diagnostics on.
The vehicle has had multiple issues with uneven and premature wearing of the brakes. Brake shop determined it was possibly the result of defective calipers. The inside and outside pads wore completely differently on every axle. Brakes wore out prematurely at 35k. I am suspicious that this also may have been caused by the forward collision warning system's proclivity to errantly activate, thus forcefully slamming on the brakes.
This vehicle has significant, but intermittent issues with acceleration; it seems mostly when the AC is on or it is cold out (below 40). Vehicle will hesitate, or entirely not respond, to the gas pedal. When this occurs, acceleration is even less predictable (and slower) than a diesel truck. When it does not occur, the acceleration was zippy and fast. Unfortunately, this erratic lag is extremely dangerous - especially when attempting to merge on the highway. I can step on the gas repeatedly and nothing happens, but then the car will accelerate in a manner which feels out of control. Driving in "sport" mode seems to prevent this, so I am inclined to think there is an issue with how the vehicle has been programmed - versus a mechanical issue with the engine. I know some "Eco" modes tend to make cars less responsive to acceleration (in order to save fuel) but this is extreme.
Like many other people who have complained, the same EPC engine light turning on after the engine stalls while driving. This has happened multiple times while driving on the highway while going 65mph+. The max speed 4000 rpm message comes on the dashboard. The car does not accelerate and pulling over is necessary in order to shut off the car and restart the engine. This is incredibly dangerous and the car’s speed cannot be controlled.

I was involved in a head-on collision going 35mph. The airbags failed to deploy. Due to this fact, my leg arms, and shoulder took all the force of the accident causing edema and bursitis to my left shoulder. The car was towed to one of State Farm’s Collison centers where it was inspected. There were no warnings or symptoms prior to total failure of the system.
Driving down the Highway with my kids in the car and the sunroof shattered. No was around driving near me, nothing was hit, no other damage on my vehicle. the sunroof just exploded with my 4 children in the car. Now Im 1,000 miles away from home.
Like many other complaints, for the second time now an error appeared having to do with 40000 RPM. Acceleration is impossible and the car shakes. We had this replaced for the first time in 2019 on our model year 2018 Tiguan and now need it replaced again. The car is undriveable, unsafe for its passengers and others on the roadway when it suddenly decelerates and won't resume speed. Both times this happened on the highway. There was no advance warning lamp or messages prior to the failure.
The contact owns a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. The contact stated while reversing out of the driveway, the rack and pinion fractured while steering the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer. The contact was informed that the bolt had fractured inside the rack and pinion. The contact called the manufacturer but was unable to reach a representative. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
• Vehicle purchased new • First brake service • Mileage: 46,700 Over a 1-week period, I noticed an increasing grinding noise at driver side front wheel. I suspected brakes. Took vehicle to VW dealership who performed an inspection then reported (first explanation) that unknown material/debris had worked its way between rotor and pad resulting in significant wear & scoring of driver front rotor. Dealership advised replacement of all 4 rotors and pads ($ 1,700+)! When I questioned the replacement of ALL brakes, I was told (2nd explanation) the debris in the driver front brake had reduced braking efficiency such that the passenger front brake had to compensate, which subsequently resulted in excessive pad and rotor wear/scoring at that site. Okay, but then why the rear? I was told (3rd explanation), that due to the decreased braking efficiency of BOTH front brakes, the rear brakes had to compensate and that the rear pads were at 5mm, and the rear rotors were warped beyond specifications. I requested all parts be retained for my inspection. Upon my later inspection, I saw that one pad from EACH side of the respective front calipers was substantially worn beyond the other pad. I was told (4th explanation) the caliper pins may not have had sufficient lubrication thus one (inner) side of EACH front caliper was getting hung up - thus the excessive wear to only the inner pad on EACH front brake. Similarly, the inner side of each rotor showed substantially more wear and “deep grooving”. Despite the clear evidence of caliper malfunction, warranty coverage declined - EVEN THOUGH the full factory warranty was still in full effect! Outcome: Paid for all new rotors & pads (no other feasible option). Service manager recommended returning after 5000 miles to verify proper function of calipers. But Service Manager advised that if the caliper issue IS found, at that time, “(T)he calipers may need replacement manufacturer’s warranty may apply.”
I WAS DRIVING WITH A FRIEND IN CAR DOING SPEED LIMIT AND ALL OF OF SUDDEN THE RED VEHICLE ACCIDENT IMAGE CAME ON THE CAR SHUDDERED AND THE AUTO BRAKES CAME ON THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED MY FRIEND FREAKED OUT I BOT IT IN SEPT 18 AND IT HAPPENED A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER THAT I IMMEDIATELY CALLED VW
WE HAVE SAME ISSUE WITH OUR 2018 TIGUAN AS MANY OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE. AFTER OUR FIRST OIL CHANGE WE HAD ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. DID NOT REPORTED TO DEALER TILL AFTER SECOND OIL CHANGE. THEY CHECKED FOR POSSIBLE LEAKS AND PUT US ON OIL CONSUMPTION TEST FOR LITTLE OVER 600 MILES. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND TOLD US TO KEEP EYE ON IT. WE ARE ON 3RD OIL LIGHT SO, THEY NOW PUT US ON SECOND OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. I OWNED MANY VW INCLUDING 2019 JETTA WE BOUGHT FOR MY SON AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH BURNING OIL. I READ MANY COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES ABOUT BURNING OIL ON VW ENGINES, SO I REACHED OUT TO SOMEONE THAT I KNOW AND SPECIALIZED IN EUROPEAN CARS. I ASKED MY FRIEND AND MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND THAT IT WILL GET WORSE WERE IT WILL BURN MORE OIL. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT VW KNOWS THAT THEY HAVE ISSUES WITH THESE ENGINES,SOMETHING WITH BAD CYLINDER SEALS AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT FOR LAST 12 YEARS HOW TO FIX IT AND WOULD NOT ADMIT IT. I GUESS THIS DOESN'T HAPPENS WITH EVERY CAR, BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS THEY TELL CUSTOMERS THAT IS NORMAL. THIS IS BS AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. NO ONE FROM SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAVE NOT TOLD ME ANYTHING SO FAR AND I HOPE AFTER SECOND OIL CONSUMPTION TEST THAT THEY DO NOT COME TO ME A SAY IT. THAT WOULD BE BAD. WE HAVE SERVICE REPORT WHEN WE BROUGHT A CAR FOR FIRST TIME WE REPORTED THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS NOTHING STATING THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR ENGINE TO CONSUME( BURN) OIL. IF THIS IS A NORMAL WITH THEIR ENGINES THEY SHOULD INFORM AND EDUCATE THEIR CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY ARE BUYING THIS CAR TO KEEP EYE ON OIL AND KEEP ADDING AFTER CERTAIN MILES. NOT EVERY CAR HAS THIS ISSUE, IT IS CASE BY CASE AND THAT IS WHAT TELLS ME THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL. WE WERE THINKING TO KEEP THIS CAR BUT NOW AFTER WHAT I LEARNED WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER VW. I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE REVERSE CAMERA AND THE INFOTAINMENT DISPLAY. THIS HAPPENS 70% OF THE TIME BUT WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE, THE SCREEN WILL GO BLACK WITH A POP UP SAYING "THE PARKPILOT IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE". THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY, SOMETIMES WHEN I LEAVE HOME THE REVERSE CAMERA WORKS FINE, BUT WHEN I TRY TO PARK SOMEWHERE AT MY DESTINATION THE ISSUE APPEARS. SOMETIMES AN IMAGE FROM THE RVC WILL APPEAR FOR A SPLIT SECOND THEN CUT OUT TO BLACK WITH THE POPUP OF THE PARK PILOT NOT BEING AVAILABLE. MY FRONT ASSIST FUNCTION MALFUNCTIONED. I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 50MPH AND THE CAR CAME TO AN IMMEDIATE STOP. THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINTS ALMOST CHOKED ME, AND THE SUDDEN STOP JARRED ME. THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP ESPECIALLY ON HOT DAYS AFTER BEING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I STEP ON THE GAS AND LITERALLY NOTHING HAPPENS. SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN JUNE 2018 I HAVE NOTICED AND REPORTED CONCERNS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION FEELING LIKE IT WAS SLIPPING WHILE DRIVING. WITHIN THE LAST TWO MONTHS, THERE APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT IS MAKING VARIOUS INDICATOR LIGHTS TO COME ON. MOST CONCERNING AND UNSAFE ON 9/11/20 THROUGH 9/15/20, MY CAR STALLED RANDOMLY 8 TIMES. NO ISSUE COULD BE DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER, HOWEVER ON 9/16, THERE WAS A RECALL. AFTER THE RECALL WAS FIXED ON 9/19/20, I GOT AN ALERT THAT THE 'TRANSMISSION IS IN EMERGENCY MODE', I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW GEARSHIFT. I AM TERRIFIED THAT THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY STALK AGAIN AND HAVE HAD NO ASSURANCE THAT IT WILL NOT AS VW NEVER IDENTIFIED AN ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE STALLING.

THE VEHICLE SIGNIFICANTLY HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR OCCASINGLY SURGES UNDER HEAVIER THROTTLE PRESSURE WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY. YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR TO GET A RESPONSE FROM THE VEHICLE FROM A DEAD STOP. THE VEHICLE WILL START TO GO THEN ACT LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL THEN START TO MOVE. IT IS VERY CONCERNING WHEN TRYING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN 2018, BUT THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE AS THE VEHICLE GETS MORE MILEAGE. THE SERVICE GUY CHECKING ME IN TOLD ME "VW CONSIDERS IT ACCEPTABLE FOR THEIR CARS TO BURN THROUGH A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES." YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME. I DIDN'T DRIVE IT ALL ALL OVER THE WEEKEND, THEN TOOK IT IN ON 8/31/2020. THE SERVICE GUY CHECKING ME IN TOLD ME "VW CONSIDERS IT ACCEPTABLE FOR THEIR CARS TO BURN THROUGH A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES." YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME. THIS CAR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 16,000 MILES ON IT YET. THIS IS NOT OKAY AND NOT NORMAL. SO HERE I SIT ON 9/2/2020. THE DEALERSHIP STILL HAS MY TIGUAN AND ARE RUNNING WHAT THEY SAY IS A NEW SERIES OF TESTS TO CHECK WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE CAR TO BURN OIL. I'LL PROVIDE AN UPDATE AS SOON AS I SPEAK WITH THEM.
WHEN IN MOTION, IN THE CITY, CAR HAD APPLIED BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY UNEXPECTEDLY, WITHOUT A REASON, WITHOUT CARS OR OBSTRUCTIONS ON FRONT. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 OR 4 TIMES AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 40 MPH.

THIS VEHICLE HAS AN ERRATIC AND OFTEN SEVERE HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING, WHICH MAKES IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AS THE DRIVER CAN NOT GAUGE THE RATE AT WHICH THE CAR WILL SPEED UP. IT HAPPENS LESS FREQUENTLY WHEN DRIVING UNDER 40 MILES AN HOUR ON A CITY STREET BUT IS UNPREDICTABLE AT SPEEDS ABOVE THIS. I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 25 YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE IN WHICH I'VE EXPERIENCE THIS UNEVEN LAG. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCE ISSUES WITH THE AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED ON AN INCLINE AT RED LIGHTS IT HAS FAILED TO RESTART, REQUIRING A MANUAL RESTART (PUT IN PARK AND RESTART ENGINE). PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CONTACT SCRAPED THE SIDE OF THE CURB WITH BOTH PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HUDSON VALLEY VOLKSWAGEN WHERE THEY PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE GET A PERFECT ALIGNMENT. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTAC THAT IT APPEARED THAT AN UNNAMED PART OF THE VEHICLE WAS BENT BUT THAT THE BEND COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DECLINED THE DIAGNOSTIC. THE CONTACT WAS ASSURED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V324000 (SUSPENSION) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO GENSINGER VOLKSWAGEN (842 VALLEY RD, CLIFTON, NJ 07013) WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY AGREED WITH THE INITIAL DEALER THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED ON HIS VEHICLE SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO THE BALL JOINT FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN LOOKED AT THE CAR FROM THE OUTSIDE AND TOOK A 0.2 MILE TEST DRIVE WITH ME IN THE CAR AND TOLD ME THAT THE ALIGNMENT IN THE BACK IS BAD AND HAS CAUSED SEVERE CUPPING ON MY BACK TIRES. SAYING I NEED ANOTHER ALIGNMENT AND MORE NEW TIRES! I HAVE HAD THIS CAR LESS THAN 2 YEARS AND IF IT ISN'T THE ALIGNMENT, THE TIRES, THE WHEEL BEARINGS, IT'S THE SUN ROOF WHICH HAS FLOODED THE BACK OF MY CAR 3 WEEKS OF OWNING IT AND NOW HASN'T CONSTANT RECALLS. I AM REQUESTING THAT THE CAR BE REVIEWED FOR COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY REGARDING THE BRAKES AND ENGINE. ALSO, THE CAR RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN WHEN STOPPED, A MESSAGE SAYING PLEASE START ENGINE MANUALLY POPS UP. THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN AND IS BOUND TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AS IT HAPPENS A FEW TIMES A MONTH. SHIFTING BY ONE OR TWO GEARS IS PROBABLY NORMAL FOR A DSG, AND I'M SURE THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING ALL ALONG - BUT IT IS SO SMALL THAT I DON'T NOTICE THE CHANGE. WHEN A CAR SHIFT DOWN BY 4 GEARS WITHIN 1-2 SECONDS AND THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD AS THE RPM SHOOT UP TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED, THAT IS SOMETHING THAT ISN'T NORMAL. CURRENTLY VEHICLE IS STILL IN THE SHOP. WILL LIKELY NEED A NEW WATER PUMP, COOLANT RESERVOIR, WIRE HARNESS (DUE TO COOLANT MIGRATION). THEY ALSO THINK THERE MAY BE TRANSMISSION FLUID INSIDE THE COOLANT RESERVOIR, BUT ARE STILL TRYING TO TELL ME THAT THE SHIFTING PROBLEM IS "NORMAL"... I'M TIRED OF DEALING WITH VOLKSWAGEN AND THEIR SHIFTY SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND PROCEDURES AND CAN'T WAIT TO GET RID OF THIS CAR.

THIS RESULTED ON BLACK MOLD TO DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. ALL CARPETS REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE; HOWEVER, EXTREME FOUL CHEMICAL ODOR CONTINUES IN THE INTERIOR AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO BREATH. I CAN PLACE MY PHONE OR SOMETHING VERY LIGHT ON THE SEAT AND MY CAR AUTOMATICALLY STARTS TO CHIME AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS TURNED ON. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE ACCIDENT IF NO PASSENGER IS PRESENT. THE OTHER ISSUE I HAVE WITH THIS CAR IS THE ACCELERATION IS INCONSISTENT. THE UNPREDICTABLENESS OF THE ACCELERATION BEHAVIOR IS DANGEROUS AND AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THIS BEHAVIOR HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE THE CAR HAS BEEN PURCHASED TO PRESENT. WHILE THE HESITATION IS INCONSISTENT, IT IS OFTEN AND COMMON.

LUCKILY NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED AT THIS POINT, BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED AS TO WHAT MAY HAPPEN IF THE CAR WAS MOVING FASTER.
SINCE OWING MY 2018 VW TIGUAN, IT HAS HAD AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM MOVING FORWARD WHEN I PUSH ON THE THROTTLE FROM A COMPLETE STOP. SOMETIMES THERE IS A DELAY OF 2 TO 3 SECONDS BEFORE THE CAR MOVES FORWARD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

IT WAS TERRIFYING. IT SEEMED TO TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES OF FIGHTING AND TRYING TO REGAIN CONTROL OF STEERING MY CAR WHEN SUDDENLY I WAS ABLE TO STEER AGAIN AND STAY IN MY LANE. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THE REASON THIS OCCURRED WAS THAT ALL 4 OF THE WHEELS WERE OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THIS MAKES NO SENSE AS I'VE NOT HIT ANY POTHOLES OR ANYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE ONE OR TWO TO BE OUT OF ALIGNMENT, NEVER MIND ALL 4. THEY REALIGNED THE WHEELS AND RESET THE LANE ASSISTANCE. I'VE SINCE TURNED OFF THE LANE ASSISTANCE AS I NO LONGER TRUST THAT FEATURE. TOO BAD SINCE THAT WAS ONE REASON I PURCHASED THAT CAR.

I AM JUST SO GRATEFUL THAT MY CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR! IT WAS SCARY AND COMPLETELY UNPROMPTED. I CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL AND DISENGAGED THE FRONT ASSIST. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL VW OWNER FOR 25 YEARS BUT THIS IS SO UNSETTLING! THE CAR JUST HAD ITS FIRST SERVICE (10,000 MILES) 4 DAYS PRIOR AT A VW DEALERSHIP.
AT 2982 MILES ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON START/STOP ERROR WHEN CAR WAS MOVING THERE WAS RPM DROP AND ROUGH ENGINE.. DEALER DIAGNOSED MISFIRE CYLINDER #2 , POURED ADDITIVE IN FUEL, TOLD ME CAR WAS ROAD TESTED INVOICE SHOWS SAME MILEAGE IN AND OUT. AT APPROX. 7400 MILES THE SAME IDENTICAL THING HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER MAY 13, 2019. DEALER INFORMED ME MAY 15, 2019 THERE WAS MISFIRE CYLINDER # 2 AND CYLINDER #4. CAR IS STILL AT DEALER AS OF TODAY MAY 2019. THESE MISS FIRES ARE A DRIVING HAZARD, THEY CAUSE RPM TO DROP, CAN CAUSE ENGINE SHUT DOWN LOOSING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. MISFIRES VERY COMMON ON VW / AUDI 2.0 TSI ENGINES. VW / AUDI STALLING CUSTOMER WITH FIXES THAT DON'T WORK. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.
STOP/START FUNCTION ON NEW TIGUAN IS BEHAVING ERRATICALLY. ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS, WHEN THE FOOT BRAKE IS APPLIED THE CAR STOPS, BUT WILL NOT START AGAIN WHEN FOOT IS LIFTED OFF THE BRAKE. BRAKE GOES HARD AND WILL NOT DEPRESS. ENGINE HAS TO BE SWITCHED OFF AND ON AGAIN FOR CAR TO MOVE. MOST RECENT OCCASION HAPPENED WHILE TURNING INTO TRAFFIC, NEEDED TO BACK UP AND COULD NOT. THANKFULLY ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS JUST BARELY ABLE TO SWERVE AROUND ME.

BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW IN EARLY APRIL 2019, AFTER A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES I NOTICED A SCREECHING/RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE B PILLARS. I TOOK IT BACK THE DEALER FOR A RESOLUTION TO THE ISSUE. THEY HEARD THE NOISE AND SAID THERE IS FIX FOR THE PROBLEM THAT INVOLVES GUTTING THE ENTIRE INTERIOR AND WELDING BAD OR MISSING WELDS ON THE STRUCTURE UP NEAR THE ROOF. I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SOLUTION. FIRST, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHO KNOWS IF THE ROOF WOULD HOLD UP DURING A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT CONSIDERING THE DEALERSHIP MECHANICS ARE NOT QUALIFIED WELDERS FOR SUCH A CRITICAL APPLICATION. SECOND, THE NOISE IS VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. SO I HAVE DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO LET THEM TEAR THE ENTIRE INTERIOR OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND LET THEM MAKE SHODDY REPAIR ON MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE OR TAKE A CHANCE ON MY AND MY PASSENGER'S SAFETY. SHAME ON VOLKSWAGEN. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE BOUGHT OR REPLACED WITH A 2019 WHICH DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE THE PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,900.
MY WIFE CALLED ME PANICKED BECAUSE HER 2018 VW TIGUAN SEL, WITH 8000 MILES, CUT OUT ON HER WHILE SLOWLY PULLING INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION. SHE DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM AS IF THE CAR LOST COMPLETE POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS, EVEN THOUGH SHE DID NOT HAVE HER FOOT ON THE BREAK AT THE TIME, AND THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. MY WIFE QUICKLY PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE, WHERE IT RESPONDED WELL MOVING BACKWARDS, AND THREW ON HER HAZARDS. THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 1 YEAR OLD AND SHE IS DEATHLY SCARED OF DRIVING IT NOW. THE VEHICLE IS A HAZARD! WHEN LOOKING ONLINE FOR SIMILAR POWER TRAIN ISSUES, MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE REPORTING A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE.
TAKATA RECALL. I GOT A RECALL ON SEPTEMBER OF THE AMBIENT LIGHT BAR AND I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO PUT IT BACK ON OVER A HALF YEAR. WHEN CAN I FINISH THIS?
ON 2/17/2019, MY SISTER & I WERE DRIVING WEST ON SANTA MONICA BLVD. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40-45MPH. IT WAS SLIGHTLY OVERCAST. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF US FOR BLOCKS &, LUCKILY, NO CARS BEHIND US. THERE WERE NO BICYCLES OR MOTORCYCLES OR PEDESTRIANS OR ANY OTHER APPARENT 'HAZARD' IN FRONT OR ON EITHER SIDE OF THE CAR. OUT OF NOWHERE, THE CAR'S BRAKES SLAMMED ON, LEAVING US STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF SANTA MONICA BLVD. THE DIGITAL COCKPIT WENT BLACK & A RED WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING ACROSS IT. I ASKED MY SISTER TO GRAB THE OWNERS MANUAL TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. AFTER SHE GRABBED IT, THE VEHICLE STARTED DRIVING AGAIN & SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE DIGITAL COCKPIT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. IT TURNED OUT THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT ASSIST SYSTEM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 2/21/2019. ON 4/6/2019, HAVING FIXED NOTHING, THEY FORCED ME TO TAKE MY CAR BACK. THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON 2/25/2019 THAT MY SISTER & I SAW, BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO PROVIDE ME A COPY OF. IN THAT DIAGNOSTIC IT DID SHOW THAT THE DISTANCE MONITORING SYSTEM FAILED IN 11/2018. THE FRONT ASSIST DOES NOT SHOW A FAIL OR THAT IT HAS EVER BEEN ACTIVATED. BECAUSE MY DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO 'DUPLICATE' THE MALFUNCTION, I AM BEING TOLD THAT THIS A NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE CAR. VW ALSO WANTED ME TO KEEP A JOURNAL FOR WHEN THIS MALFUNCTION HAPPENS AGAIN - AS I'VE EXPLAINED TO VW & MY DEALERSHIP, THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS THERE COULD BE AN ACCIDENT THAT RESULTS IN INJURY OR DEATH. I WAS STILL FORCED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK. I AM TOO SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR KNOWING THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING WITH THE SENSORS, AUTONOMOUS BRAKING SYSTEM, FRONT ASSIST SYSTEM. I AM EXTREMELY WORRIED ABOUT THE MALFUNCTION CAUSING AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD INJURE MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS, & OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROADS.
MY VEHICLE DISPLAYED A SIGN STATING THAT THEIR WAS LOW COOLANT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AROUND 14,000 MILES AND THE PCM HAS BEEN DESTROYED. THE ENGINE HASN'T BEEN GETTING COOLANT FOR SOME TIME. ONCE THAT WAS REPLACED MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING PROPERLY AND ROGERS REALLY ROUGHLY MAINLY THROUGH GEARS 1-3. IT'S REALLY DANGEROUS IF I NEED TO ACCURATE QUICKLY TO MERGE THE RESPONSE TIME IS OFF AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. I FLAGGED THIS WITH VW AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEIR IS AN ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS RESOLVED BEFORE MYSELF OR OTHERS ARE INJURED.
THE VEHICLE HAS SEVERE ACCELERATION PROBLEM, WITH UNEVEN AND UNPREDICTABLE ACCELERATION WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE FROM A STOP. THE PROBLEM DEVELOPED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS 2 WEEKS OLD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS AN ISSUE IN THE SECONDARY AIR SYSTEM, BUT THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT AND COULD NOT FIX IT AT THAT TIME. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO TWO SUBSEQUENT DEALERSHIPS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE CAR WAS REPORTING NO PROBLEM, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT TURNING ON. A THIRD DEALERSHIP FOUND A FAULTY VALVE IN THE SECONDARY AIR SYSTEM, DESPITE THE CAR REPORTING NO ISSUES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FAILING TO BE LIT. DESPITE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE PART, THE VEHICLE STILL HAS UNPREDICTABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE ACCELERATION, WHICH POSES A SEVERE SAFETY RISK WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. WHEN I EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE, IT DOES SO AT AN EXTREMELY TEPID PACE, CAUSING TRAFFIC TO NEED TO SLOW RAPIDLY BEHIND THE VEHICLE. OTHER TIME IT BEGINS TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY, AND THEN STALLS IN ACCELERATION. THIS AGAIN POSES A SAFETY RISK TO THE DRIVER AND SURROUNDING TRAFFIC.
AS STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL LINE CAME OFF AND FUEL SPRAYED ALL OVER, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO COME, TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SAFE ENOUGH TO TOW. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 2 TO 3 HOURS BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO START
WHEN ACCELERATING. IT FEELS LIKE THE MOTOR IS VIBRATING TOO MUCH LIKE IT'S GOING TO RIP ITSELF OUT. THE CAR HAS ONLY 3K MILES. IT'S BEEN ADDRESSED TO VOLKSWAGEN! MOTOR MOUNTS ARE OK AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT IS GOOD AS TOLD BY DEALER. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS ACCELERATING FROM A STANDSTILL
WHEN PRESSING PEDAL FROM A STOPPED POSITION TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE THERE IS EITHER A LAG IN RESPONSE OR NO RESPONSE CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO MOVE WHEN GOING FROM A STOPPED POSITION TO MOVING ACTION INTO TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN NOTED AT RANDOM MOMENTS, MORE NOTICEABLY WHEN VEHICLE IS FIRST TURNED ON. HOWEVER, IT HAS HAPPENED COUNTLESS TIMES WHEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR SEVERAL MILES. THIS LACK OF ACCELERATOR RESPONSE PUTS MY FAMILY AND I INTO A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
FRONTAL BRAKE ASSIST IS ENGAGING WITHOUT NECESSITY. ONE INCIDENT OCCURRED SLOWING DRIVING THROUGH AN EMPTY PARKING GARAGE WHILE SLOWLY FOLLOWING ANOTHER CAR ABOUT A CAR LENGTH AHEAD. MY DASH WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED AS I WAS APPROACHING A CAR THAT HAD BEEN STOPPED IN MY LANE ON A CITY STREET, GOING SAME DIRECTION AND IN PROCESS OF MAKING A LEFT TURN. THOUGH THE CAR AHEAD WAS ALREADY TURNING AND 2 LENGTHS AWAY, MY CAR'S DASH WARNING LIGHTS LIT AND THE CAR BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT DID NOT COMPLETELY STOP.

BROUGHT VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER WITHIN WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. NOW AT ABOUT 8000 MILES AND PROBLEM PERSISTS. CAUSE OF PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN TO ME. A CHECK OF OWNERS FORUM ON INTERNET REVEALED NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ENTERING ROUNDABOUTS OR CHANGING LANES ON HIGH SPEED INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS.

DANGEROUS JERKINESS AND LOSS OF POWER WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH FIRST 3 GEARS. WHEN COMING OUT OF A STOP THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES NOTICEABLE LAG AS IT SHIFTS THROUGH EACH GEAR. ENGINE REVS, POWER DROPS, AND THEN IT SUDDENLY JERKS INTO GEAR. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO TROUBLE CODES AND I SHOULD JUST KEEP DRIVING. ISSUE WAS REPRODUCIBLE IN NORMAL AND SPORT MODE, AND WAS VERIFIED BY THE TECHNICIAN WHEN I MADE HIM ACCOMPANY ME ON A TEST DRIVE.

WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC YOU STEP ON THE GAS AND INITIALLY THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE WHICH CAUSES YOU TO PRESS FURTHER ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. EVENTUALLY VEHICLE SUDDENLY JERKS VIOLENTLY FORWARD. DEALERSHIP ADVISES THAT SINCE THERE ARE NO TROUBLE CODES THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE NEW.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS MOISTURE IN THE IGNITION LINE AND THERE WAS A SIGNAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE DEALER, A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE OCCURRED FROM THE ENGINE AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND OIL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,100.
SINCE NOVEMBER 2018 OF THIS YEAR THE SEAT BELT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT IT SEEMS LOOSE AND THE LIGHT ILLUMINATES RED AND COMES ON RANDOMLY AND CHIMES. THE SEAT BELTS LOOKS AND FEELS CHEAPLY MADE. IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE SINCE THE AIRBAG MODULE WAS REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SAYS THE LOOSENESS OF THE BELT IS NORMAL.THEY CLAIM WHEN THEY DRIVE IT THE RED SYMBOL NEVER COMES ON OR CHIMES. IT IS NEVER PICKED UP AS A CODE ON THE VW CAR NET OR ON THEIR MACHINE. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? I WANT THESE SEAT BELTS TO BE REPLACED. IT ONLY COMES ON WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND DRIVING THE CAR.THE DEALERSHIP SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED MOSTLY DURING SUNNY DAYS ON MULTIPLE TYPES OF ROADS SUCH AS INTERSTATES AND CITY STREETS REGARDLESS OF TURNING OR DRIVING STRAIGHT.
I PURCHASED MY TIGUAN SE 4MOTION IN JULY 2018 AND SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE ACCELERATION AND NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE B PILLAR. THE ACCELERATION FEELS LIKE A TURBO LAG FROM THE START WHERE THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE HESITATES TO RESPOND CAUSING A SMALL "STALL". THIS HAPPENS IN BOTH DRIVE AND SPORT MODES. WHEN ACCELERATING UP-HILL THE VEHICLE HAS ISSUES WITH FINDING THE PROPER GEAR AND CONSTANTLY SEARCHES FOR A GEAR TO SETTLE ON. THE B PILLAR NOISE SOUNDS LIKE LOUD CLICKING WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AND RUTS IN THE ROAD AND EVEN MAKES A NOISE WHEN OPENING THE DOOR TO ITS FULLEST.
THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING "HEADLIGHTS" ARE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD CONSIDERING THEY PROVIDE VERY POOR VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT OR IN RAIN. I BARELY MISSED HITTING AN OBJECT IN THE STREET THAT WAS LESS THAN 30 FEET TO THE RIGHT AND IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS DRIVING LESS THAN 20 MPH. THERE IS ZERO VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING IN RAIN AT NIGHT. I WOULD RATE THESE HEADLIGHTS A 1 OUT OF 10 WHEN MOVING AND A 3 OUT OF 10 WHEN STATIONARY. I FEEL THESE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO INFERIOR THAT THEY POSE A REAL DANGER TO ANYONE DRIVING A VW TIGUAN. THE LACK OF VISIBILITY IS SO DEFICIENT IN ILLUMINATION THAT I AM NOT GOING TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT NIGHT UNLESS NECESSARY. TOO DANGEROUS.
ACCELERATOR POSITION AND ENGINE RESPONSE ON THIS VEHICLE IS VERY INCONSISTENT SLOW TO RESPOND FROM STATIONARY POSITION MAKING THE VEHICLE UNPREDICTABLE AND OFTEN UNSAFE. DEPRESSION OF ACCELERATOR PRODUCES INCONSISTENT RESULTS OFTTIMES THE VEHICLE STRUGGLES TO START MOVING, THEN OTHER TIMES FROM STATIONARY, THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARDS WITH EXACT SAME TYPE OF ACCELERATOR INPUT. THESE EXPERIENCES ARE IN ALL MODES.

HEADLIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY TURN ON AND OFF DEPENDING ON ORIENTATION TO SUN AND WHETHER BRIEFLY IN SHADE SUCH AS DRIVING UNDER A BRIDGE OR UNDER TREES FOR EVEN A FEW SECONDS. ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS BECOME ACTIVATED AND DE-ACTIVATED BY THE AUTO SYSTEM CAUSING OTHER DRIVERS TO MISINTERPRET WHAT THE CAR IS DOING (I.E. BRAKING) WHICH MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. NO METHOD OF ADJUSTING AUTO ON SENSITIVITY OR DELAY IS PROVIDED IN THIS PARTICULAR CAR. I NOTICED THIS BECAUSE MY ANDROID AUTO NAVIGATION KEPT SWITCHING FROM NIGHT MODE TO DAYLIGHT MODE. THIS CAUSED ME TO CHECK THE HEADLIGHT ON INDICATOR LIGHT WHICH MATCHED THE STATUS OF THE NAV SYSTEM.

MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN FEAR OF HER LIFE !! (AND SO AM I) THESE CARS MUST BE STOPPED BEING SOLD...WILL NOT BE LONG BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED....
ON OCTOBER 11, 2018 I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN A SIDE STREET TRAVELING 30 MILES AN HOUR I HEARD A LOUD BANG. I TURNED AROUND AND SAW MY SIDE MIRROR BROKEN AND SMASHED INTO THE SIDE OF MY CAR WINDOW. TO MY SURPRISE THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE CAR. IT WAS ISOLATED TO THE SIDE MIRROR. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER. I EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THEY LOOKED AT THE SIDE MIRROR. THEY CAME BACK TO TELL ME THAT SOMETHING HIT MY CAR LIKE A ROCK OR STICK. I WAS SURPRISED AND SAID REALLY THE ROCK OR STICK ONLY HIT THE SIDE MIRROR AND PUSHED THE MIRROR INTO THE WINDOW? I SAID I BELIEVE THAT THE DEFROST, LANE CHANGE OR POWER MIRROR WIRING CAUSED THE EXPLOSION. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY AND ESTIMATED TO COST TO $1100. I HAD DEALER ORDER A NEW MIRROR. I SCHEDULED THE SERVICE AND CONFIRMED WITH THE DEALER THAT THE PART WAS READY. AN HOUR WAITING FOR THE CAR TO BE SERVICED THE SERVICE ADVISOR GOT ME FROM THE WAITING ROOM TO TELL ME THAT THE NEW PART THAT WAS ORDERED FROM VOLKSWAGEN AND PAINTED TO ORDER WAS DAMAGED! TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD A REPLACEMENT MIRROR THAT HAD BEEN ORDERED FOR ANOTHER CUSTOMER. SINCE THAT CUSTOMER HAD NOT SCHEDULED A TIME FOR SERVICE IT WAS GOING TO BE SENT OUT TO BE PAINTED FOR ME. I LEFT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH MY BROKEN MIRROR. WHILE DRIVING HOME I REALIZED, I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SIDE MIRROR, THE REPLACEMENT MIRROR CAME IN DAMAGED, AND ANOTHER CUSTOMER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SIDE MIRROR. I CAN PROVIDE ADDITIONAL PICTURES.

THE VEHICLE HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR OCCASINGLY SURGES UNDER HEAVIER THROTTLE PRESSURE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE DEALERS ARE TELLING US THIS IS 'NORMAL' BEHAVIOR. I SEE THAT MANY DRIVERS HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET INJURED BEFORE WE GET TAKEN SERIOUSLY? VOLKSWAGEN NEEDS TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE NOW.
SINCE BRAND NEW THERE IS A RATTLE COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE PILLAR. TAKEN TWICE TO VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE AND THE RATTLE STILL THERE. ALSO THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF COMPLETELY ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS FORCING ME TO RESTART MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY. COLD STARTS VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE WELL, FEELS LIKE WHEN SOMEONE IS LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE A MANUAL CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME AND MISSES THE CLUTCH AND THE VEHICLE JUMPS. TAKEN TWICE TO VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE AND THEY SAID THEY ADJUSTED THE TRANSMISSION AND EVERYTHING IS WELL. AS SOON AS I DROVE OFF THE LOT IT BEGAN TO DO THE SAME THING. WORRIED THAT THE VEHICLE MAY SHUT OFF COMPLETELY AT AN INTERSECTION OR THAT THERE MAY NOT BE ENOUGH POWER DUE TO LAG WHEN NECESSARY.
THE BACKUP LIGHTS ON THIS CAR ARE ALMOST NON-EXISTANT AND EVEN WITH THE CAMERA ITS DIFFICULT TO SEE TO BACK UP. I WORRY THAT NO ONE NOTICES I AM BACKING UP AND THERFORE THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY.
FROM A STOP, AND AT LOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE HESITATES VERY BADLY. AT TIMES, WITH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE FOR 2-3 SECONDS OR MORE--IT JUST COASTS. IN OTHER SITUATIONS, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE AT ALL, AND THE ENGINE REVS TO HIGH RPM. THIS HAS LED TO NEAR ACCIDENTS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS: WHEN CROSSING TRAFFIC TO MAKE A LEFT-HAND TURN, MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AFTER MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN, OR ATTEMPTING TO GET TO SPEED ENTERING A FREEWAY. FURTHER, THIS IS NOT HOW THE VEHICLE BEHAVED ON THE TEST-DRIVE. IF IT HAD, I WOULD NEVER HAVE PURCHASED IT. TO DATE, THE VEHICLE HAS SPENT MORE THAT 3 WEEKS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP. AFTER THIS PERIOD OF SERVICE, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME, AND I WAS TOLD THAT VW HAD DETERMINED THAT THIS IS A "FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE", AND THAT NOTHING MORE WOULD BE DONE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, AND A BAIT-AND-SWITCH.
08/24/2018- EPC LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER I BEGAN MY MORNING COMMUTE WHILE DRIVING APPROX 45MPH ON CITY STREET. MY CAR SLOWED AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ACCELERATION, AS A SECOND WARNING LIGHT CAME ON STATING 'ENGINE SPEED MAX 3000RPM'. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK A SHORT DISTANCE AT A REDUCED SPEED WITH LIMITED ACCELERATION. HAD CAR TOWED FOR THE EARLIEST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT ON 08/27/2018 AT A LOCAL VW SERVICE CENTER. TOLD TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A THOROUGH DIAGNOSTIC AND TSB. 09/21/2018- TOLD VW ENGINEER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AFTER THE TIMING CHAIN FIX AND THE ECP LIGHT CAME BACK ON, SO IT WAS DETERMINED A FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT WAS NEEDED. ALSO SAME DAY, VW CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT MY PRIOR REQUEST FOR A VEHICLE REPLACEMENT/ REPURCHASE WAS DENIED, BUT WOULD BE RE-SUBMITTED WITH THE NEW INFORMATION TEGARDING THE ENGINE. 09/25/2018- VW CUSTOMER CARE REP NOTIFIED ME THAT A NEW ENGINE WAS ORDERED AND WAS ESTIMATED TO ARRIVE AT VW SERVICE WITHIN 10-12 BUSINESS DAYS. 09/26/2018- I NOTIFIED VW CUSTOMER CARE REP THAT I WANT TO BE CONTACTED AS SOON AS A DECISION FOR THE RE-SUBMITTED REPLACEMENT/REPURCHASE REQUEST IS MADE, AS I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS (FAILURE TO ACCELERATE) AND RELIABILITY CONCERNS AFTER ENGINE FAILURE AT 5 MO./ 4575 MILES.
DURING THE BACKING UP PROCESSS, THERE IS NO BEEPING OR LOUD NOISE INDICATOR, WITH THE BACK UP CAMERA'S, ALSO THERE IS NOT RELEASE BUTTON INSIDE THE VEHICLE NOR ON MY FOB, AND I THINK IT SHOULD BE. THANK YOU

RATTLE HAD BEEN INTERMITTENT INITIALLY BUT BY 8,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THE RATTLE WAS ALMOST CONSTANT AT ANY SPEED WHILST BEING DRIVEN OVER ANY SURFACE SMOOTH OR OTHERWISE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AND IT HAS NOW BEEN THERE FOR 32 DAYS. A REPAIR WAS DONE, BUT THE RESULT WAS SATISFACTORY, SO THEY ARE TRYING TO REPAIR IT AGAIN.
THE TIGUAN HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH HESITATION WHILE SHIFTING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. YOU CAN FEEL AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER, LOSS OF BOOST AND A BUCKING FEELING WHILE IT SHIFTING. I'VE ALSO DRIVEN ANOTHER TIGUAN OF THE SAME YEAR AND THE ISSUE WAS PRESENT ON THAT SPECIFIC MODEL TOO. THIS ISSUE IS NOT ONLY AN ANNOYANCE BUT ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE MERGING OR TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP.
TODAY, THE CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS STATION/STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT AND GOT DRAGGED BY THE TRUCK WHICH ALMOST RAN OVER MY CAR. MY CAR'S SENSOR SWITCHED TO EMERGENCY MODE AND WOULD NOT LET ME DRIVE. I WANTED TO DRIVE MY CAR AWAY WHEN I SAW THE DANGER. HOWEVER, L COULD NOT AND ALMOST GOT KILLED AND RAN OVER BY THE 18 WHEELS TRUCK.
TIGUAN 2018 HESITATES TO ACCELERATE WITH A LAPSE OF A FEW (3 OR 4) SECOND BEFORE THE CAR FINALLY ACCELERATES AFTER A FULL STOP OR FROM SLOW SPEEDS. THIS ISSUE TENDS TO BE CONSTANT AND CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO PULL FROM A BUSY INTERSECTION OR FROM ANY OTHER SITUATION WHERE YOU NEED TO MOVE QUICK , ITS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT IF VW DOESN'T COME UP WITH A RESOLUTION. A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING (ON THE ROAD), CAR STOPPED COMPLETELY, ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON. HAD TO BE TOWED TO CLOSEST VW WHERE IT WOULD REMAIN FOR OVER A MONTH. FIRST DIAGNOSED AS UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL PROB - NEEDED TO BE ANALYZED BY VW ENGINEER WHO BELIEVED IT TO BE THE BATTERY. NEW BATTERY DID NOT REMEDY ISSUE - NEW ALTERNATOR WAS ORDERED, AGAIN DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. FINALLY WAS IDENTIFIED AS A ISSUING WITH THE WIRING BEING STRIPPED. FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE IN MY NEW CAR - HAS ALSO BEEN EFFECTED BY TWO RECALLS SINCE (IN ADDITION TO THE ONE MONTH IN THE VW DEALERSHIP FROM NON RECALL ISSUE) - CURRENT SUNROOF RECALL HAS NO FIX ONLY A TEMPORARY SOLUTION TO DISCONNECT THE WIRING - I FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE IN THE CAR AND WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. CAR SHOULD BE BOUGHT BACK BY VW - OPEN RECALLS WITH NO FIX LEAVE THE CAR WORTHLESS. WHAT ELSE WILL GO WRONG WITH THE 2018 TIGUAN - WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER VW IN THE FUTURE.
WHEN STARTING VEHICLE (EITHER COLD OR WARM), VEHICLE HAS A SEVERAL SECONDS HESITATION WHEN PUSHING DOWN ACCELERATOR. VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE, HESITATES THEN LURCHES FORWARD AS IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT GETTING SUFFICIENT POWER TO MOVE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPAIR. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR CROSSING A MULTI LANE ROAD AND HAVE TO MOVE QUICKLY AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND.
LOWBEAM VISIBILITY: DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A HIGHWAY AND NOTICED MY LOW BEAMS WERE NOT ADEQUATE FOR DISTANCE WITH SPEEDS AT 65MPH, SCARY SITUATION WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE. WAS CONSTANTLY USING HIGH BEAMS TO BE ABLE TO SEE. FOUND INFO ON THE WEB THAT SAID 2018 MODELS MADE BEFORE DECEMBER 2017 HAVE A POOR RATING FOR THE HEADLIGHTS. THEN YOU CAN PRESS THE GAS PEDAL A QUARTER OF THE WAY DOWN AND THE ENGINE HESITATES THEN THROWS THE CAR INTO HIGH GEAR AND TAKES OFF. I HAVE DRIVEN A LOT OF CARS THE PAST WEEK EVEN A VW TOUAREG THAT DID NOT ACT LIKE THIS CAR DOES WITH THE ACCELERATOR. IT IS LIKE THE ACCELERATOR IS NOT SENDING THE CORRECT SINGLE TO THE ENGINE OR THE ENGINE'S COMPUTER IS NOT INTERRUPTING IT CORRECTLY FROM THE ACCELERATOR. THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR CAN BE BAD AND GIVE A FALSE POSITIVE. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO 4 DEALERSHIPS AND FIELD ENGINEERS HAVE STATED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT VW REFUSES TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL REQUESTS BUT THEY KEEP GETTING DENIED AND SAY THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE VEHICLE AND I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE ALMOST GOT INTO 3 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT REACT AND THE CAR STALLED OUT.
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND ON ANY ROAD SURFACE THERE IS A CONSTANT RATTLING COMING FROM THE DOOR AND WINDOW PILLARS. IT IS VERY LOUD AND NOTICEABLE AT ANY SPEED.GOING OVER ROUGH ROADS AND UNEVEN SURFACES MAKES THE RATTLING WORSE. THIS VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW AND ONLY FOUR DAYS OLD. WHEN I CALLED I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO KNOWN STRUCTURAL ISSUE. HOWEVER THERE ARE DOZENS OF THIS ISSUE REPORTED HERE AND ON VARIOUS VW FORUMS.
THE TIGUAN EXPERIENCES SEVERE AND DANGEROUS ACCELERATION HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR FROM VERY SLOW SPEEDS. THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DELAY BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR BEING DEPRESSED AND THE CAR ACTUALLY ACCELERATING, WHICH CAUSES AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MERGE WITH OTHER TRAFFIC OR ENTER A ROADWAY FROM A SIDE STREET. THIS ISSUE IS VERY CONSISTENT, AND OCCURS IN ALL OPERATING CONDITIONS (ENGINE WARMED, ENGINE COLD, AUTOMATIC GEAR SELECTION OR MANUAL GEAR SELECTION, IN 'SPORT' MODE AND IN REGULAR DRIVING MODE). THE ISSUE IS PRESENT IN ALL DRIVING SITUATIONS WHERE ACCELERATION FROM A STATIONARY OR SLOW SPEED IS REQUIRED.
THE VW-EQUIPPED ENTERTAINMENT CENTER DOES NOT HAVE THE PROPER PROCESSING POWER TO EFFECTIVELY USE APPLE CARPLAY. SINCE NEW, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO USE APPLE CARPLAY, THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM WILL FREEZE, MALFUNCTION, OR OTHERWISE FAIL AFTER THE IPHONE IS PLUGGED IN. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS AT LEAST 50% OF THE TIME, AND REQUIRES THE ENTIRE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM TO UNDERGO A 'HARD' RESET IN ORDER TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THIS ISSUE OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS AND IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS.
IN THE FIRST MONTH OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE HAS DISPLAYED INTERMITTENT LOSS OF RESPONSE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS OCCURS WHEN FIRST SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANY INPUT INTO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE ENGINE RPMS WILL HOLD AT 1000 OR DROP TO ALMOST STALLING THE CAR. AFTER ABOUT 10-20 SECONDS OF THIS, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY RECOGNIZE THE THROTTLE INPUT AND WILL LURCH FORWARD. THERE IS NO INDICATION OF WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL DECIDE TO RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE INPUT. THE B-PILLAR ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR STARTED TO RATTLE WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WAS OVER ~55 F. THIS HAS BEEN SERVICED ONCE, PER A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM VOLKSWAGEN. THE SERVICE SIMPLY MADE THE PROBLEM INTERMITTENT. THE TSB STATES THAT THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY THE AIR BAG MODULES RUBBING ON THE METAL OF THE FRAME AND BODY. ADDITIONALLY THE TSB PROCEDURE INSTRUCTS THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TO SLIDE A SCREW DRIVER BETWEEN TWO PIECES OF BODY OR FRAME METAL, AND USE A HAMMER TO BEND THE PANELS APART FROM EACH OTHER. HAS THIS BE PROVEN TO NOT COMPROMISE THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE? THE TRANSMISSION CONSISTENTLY FAILS TO FIND THE CORRECT GEAR TO BE IN AT LOW SPEEDS OR FROM A STOP. WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP THE TRANSMISSION HAS A HARSH SHIFT IN THE FIRST 3 GEARS. THE TRANSMISSION AT TIME WILL START OFF IN THE 3RD GEAR, WITH THE THROTTLE FULLY ENGAGED, AND WILL TAKE SEVERAL SECONDS TO DETERMINE THAT IT NEEDS TO BE IN THE FIRST GEAR. BY THE TIME IT FINALLY SHIFTS INTO FIRST, IT IS AT THE PEAK RPM'S FOR FIRST GEAR AND WILL HARSHLY SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR. THIS IS THEN QUICKLY FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER JERKY SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR. STARTING THE CAR OFF IN THIRD GEAR HAS CAUSED ISSUES FOR MAKING A TURN IN A BREAK IN TRAFFIC TO THE POINT WHERE I CAN NO LONGER RELIABLY DEEM THAT TO BE A SAFE MANEUVER.
THE WINDSHIELD OF THIS VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO BE LIGHTER WEIGHT TO INCREASE FUEL SAVINGS. THIS IN TURN CAUSED THE WINDSHIELD TO BE MORE FRAGILE. ROCK CHIPS IMMEDIATELY CAUSE CRACKS IN THE GLASS, AND LARGER OBJECT PENETRATE TO THE POLYMER SUB-LAYER EASILY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IN STATES LIKE COLORADO THAT STILL USE GRAVEL FOR TRACTION ON ICE.

THIS IS FROM A STRUCTURAL DEFECT DUE TO A LACK OF WELDING IN THOSE AREAS. WHILE IN FOR INSPECTION, I WAS LOANED THREE ADDITIONAL TIGUANS AND THEY ALL MADE THE CLICKING SOUND. IT'S A HEAT-SENSITIVE ISSUE, OCCURRING WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHES AT LEAST 45 DEGREES AND THE METAL EXPANDS. AFTER FOUR ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BY INSTALLING CLIPS, WEDGES, AND FELT PADDING, VOLKSWAGEN AGREED TO RE-PURCHASE THE VEHICLE FROM ME. THERE IS WEIRD TURBO/ENGINE SOUND COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WHEN ENGINE IS COLD, COLD START, YOU HEAR GRINDING TYPE OF NOISE. IT IS VERY LOUD. ONCE ENGINE IS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, NOISE IS REDUCED, BUT STILL THERE. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT HAS CLICKING NOISE. YOU DO NOT HEAR IT WHEN SEATING INSIDE THE VEHICLE, BUT YOU CAN HEAR IT WHEN OUTSIDE AND SOMEONE ELSE IS SHIFTING. THE NOISE IS WHEN CAR GOES FROM EITHER DRIVE TO NEUTRAL, OR REVERSE TO NEUTRAL. IT'S A CLICKING NOISE, LIKE CHIME AND METAL BANGING MIXED TOGETHER.
THERE IS A RECALL FOR SUNROOF LIGHTING: FROM VW WEBSITE: HIGH HUMIDITY IN THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF AMBIENT LIGHTING BAR LED MODULE (CAUSED BY ENVIRONMENT OR BY LEAVING THE SUNROOF OPEN) COULD LEAD TO A LOCAL SHORT CIRCUIT. IF THIS HAPPENS, THERE IS A RISK OF A FIRE. SO, I BOUGHT HIGHER MODEL BECAUSE I WANTED THIS FEATURE, BUT NOW I CANNOT USE IT BECAUSE VW IS GOING TO DISCONNECT IT? THERE FIX IS TO DISCONNECT IT. I HAVE NO SUNROOF LIGHTING. I SHOULD GET A REFUND FOR SOMETHING THEY TOOK AWAY.

THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL INTO TRAFFIC A LITTLE BIT AND THEN 2-4 SECONDS PASS AND THEN IT WILL GO. IT IS VERY TOUCH AND GO AFTER IT DOES THIS AND IT TAKES ABOUT 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO FULLY BE "NORMAL" I HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES FOR THESE ISSUES. THEY KEEP TELLING ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. BOTH ISSUES HAPPEN WITHOUT REASON. IT HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. IT HAPPENS WITH OR WITHOUT THE "START/STOP" SYSTEM ACTIVATED. IT HAPPENS IN HOT AND COLD. I USE PREMIUM GAS LIKE THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO DO. I DO NOT TOP OFF WHEN I GET GAS. IT STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.

OUR CAR HAS BEEN IN 3 TIMES FOR SERVICE AND EACH TIME (AT 5K, 10K, AND 15 MILES), I HAVE EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE WRITERS THAT MY CAR HAS A LAG, A STOP IN THE THROTTLE AND TURBO, WHERE IT FAILS TO ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY UPON PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS DELAY / HESITATION / AND ALL OUT STALLING IS PLACING ME IN VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHILE DRIVING.TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK, IT HAS COMPLETELY STALLED (ENGINE DOES NOT SHUT OFF BUT CAR WILL NOT GO) WHERE I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED ON THE FREEWAY IN ONE OCCASION AND ALMOST T-BONED IN AN INTERSECTION IN THE OTHER. THE FOLKS AT THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED THIS IS A 'KNOWN CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS VEHICLE'. NOT ONE TIME, WHEN I WAS PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE WAS IT EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE TIGUAN WOULD FAIL TO ACCELERATE AND PUT ME IN SUCH A DANGEROUS POSITION. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO VW AND MY LOCAL NEWS MEDIA. I FIND IT ABSURD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT ONCE WAS THIS MENTIONED AS THE REASON UNTIL MY THIRD VISIT AT 15,000 MILES WHERE THE DEPRECIATION OF MY VEHICLE MAKES IT A TOTAL LOSS FOR ME TO TRY TO EVEN GET A SAFER VEHICLE. WHY IN WORLD, HAS THIS KNOWN FAILURE OF ACCELERATION NOT BEEN REPAIRED IN ANYWAY?
BOUGHT THE CAR IN OCTOBER 2017, IMMEDIATELY HAD TO HAVE THE LEFT REAR SENSOR REPLACED BECAUSE IT WOULD SHOW THAT THERE WAS A VEHICLE TO THE LEFT OF ME, EVEN WHEN I WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LANE. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SET TO AUTOMATIC THEY ARE ALWAYS ON. THEY DON'T TURN OFF WHEN YOUR DRIVING IN FULL SUNSHINE. B PILLAR RATTLE HAS GOTTEN STEADILY WORSE ON BOTH SIDES. I JUST TOOK MY CAR IN AND THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE ON WHEN I WILL GET IT BACK. THE RATTLING HAPPENS ALL TIMES OF THE DAY AND ON ALL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE TEMPERATURE DOESN'T SEEM TO IMPACT THE RATTLING EITHER.

THIS REPRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT MAY CAUSE A FIRE OR EVENTUALLY ENGINE TO FAIL. CAN PROVIDE REPAIR REPORT FROM DEALER (FIRST REPAIR) AND SECOND ONCE IT IS FINALIZED. THANK YOU.
ON 7/13/2018 WE ARE ON A FAMILY TRIP WHEN WE STOP THE VEHICLE TO TAKE SOME PICTURES THE CAR ON PARKING, START TO MAKE HIGH AND LOW ACELERATION WITH VIBRATIONS AND THEN A LIGHT WITH EPC SHOW ON DASHBOARD. I TURN OFF THE CAR FOR A MINUTE AND THEN TURN ON, THE EPC LIGHT DISAPPEAR, BUT THE VIBRATIONS CONTINUED. THE NEXT DAY (7/14/2018) WE ARE ON THE ROAD AND THE VEHICULE STARTS THE VIBRATIONS , THEN SHOW THE CHECKENGINE PICTURE ON THE DASHBOARD, RAPIDLY 2 ERRORS APPEARED ON THE SCREEN 'ERROR: START-STOP' AND 'ENGINE ON DUE TO SYSTEM ERROR'. WE CALL VW CENTER AND WE HAVE A INSPECCION OF THE VEHICLE THIS WEEK. ALSO WITH LESS OF 4,000MI WE SAW THAT THE FRONT BRAKE DISCS HAVE PROBLEMS. THEY SHOW A BIG MARK WITH DITCH. I PURCHASED MY 2018 TIGUAN ON JUNE 26TH, 2018. ON JUNE 27TH, AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY I HEARD A LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR . THE MORE I DROVE THE LOUDER IT WAS . I DIDN'T KNOW EXACTLY WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. I WAS HEADED TO THE DEALERSHIP ANYWAY BECAUSE MY CAR WAS MISSING 3 ITEMS FROM THE TRUCK. THE PAINT PROTECTOR WASN'T DONE PROPERLY AND THE INSIDE OF THE CAR WASN'T CLEAN. I SPOKE WITH MY SALES PERSON ONCE I ARRIVED AND WE WENT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE CAR RE-DETAILED INSIDE AND OUT ALONG WITH THEM CHECKING OUT THE NOISE I WAS HEARING. THURSDAY JUNE 29, 10 AM, I ARRIVED AND CHECKED MY VEHICLE IN. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS TO COMPLETE EVERYTHING. IT TOOK 5 HOURS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SHIFT PLATE UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS LOOSE AND IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 3 TO 4 DAYS FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE. I RECEIVED A CALL ON JULY 5TH, STATING THE PART CAME IN AND I WAS SCHEDULED TO COME BACK IN ON SATURDAY JULY 9TH AND THAT HE WOULD HAVE A TECHNICIAN RIDE WITH ME , SINCE I WAS HEARING THE NOISE FROM THE SEAT BELT PANEL ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR. WHEN I ARRIVED, THE TECHNICIAN RODE WITH ME TO HEAR THE NOISE AND HE AGREED THAT IT WAS COMING FROM THE SEAT BELT PANEL. TECHNICIAN DROVE 2 OTHER DEMO CARS SINCE MY CAR WAS DRIVEN BY THE OWNER. FAST-FORWARD, I WAS TOLD THE DEMO CARS SOUNDED THE SAME WAY AND THAT HE TOOK THE SEAT BELT PANEL OFF, REARRANGED SOMETHING , DROVE THE CAR AND DIDN'T HEAR THE NOISE. THE SERVICE PERSON EXPLAINED THAT IF I STILL HEARD THE NOISE THAT IT WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE AND I HAD TO DEAL WITH THE NOISE. SINCE MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS WITH ME , I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO GO BACK AND FORTH, I SAID OK AND REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO VOLKSWAGEN.
TICKING NOISE/RATTLING FROM THE B-PILLAR ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE.
THE VEHICLE HAS A START/STOP FEATURE THAT IS ON BY DEFAULT AND IS DANGEROUS WHEN WAITING TO MAKE A TURN. IT TEMPORARILY SHUTS THE CAR DOWN AND RESTARTS UPON RELEASE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MOVE THE CAR FORWARD WHICH CAUSES SEVERE HESITATION IN EXCELLERATION. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE JERKS AND HESITATES. WHEN IT DOES FINALLY KICK IN IT CAUSES THE CAR TO SURGE FORWARD TO FAST AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AND HANDLE IN A TURN, EPECIALLY WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HAVE ALMOST BEEN T-BONED A FEW TIMES DUE TO BOTH OF THESE ISSUES. WE DONT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE!! THESE ISSUES NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY VOLKSWAGON BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT. WE LOVE THE STYLING AND LOOK OF OUR TIGUAN BUT FEEL THE TRANSMISSION AND START/STOP ISSUES ARE VERY UNSAFE!!

RECENTLY STARTED SAME FROM PASSENGER-SIDE B-PILLAR, BUT LESS FREQUENTLY. MOST OFTEN NOTICED WHEN DRIVING A MODERATE SPEEDS (35-55). THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH A TSB FOR EARLY MODEL YEAR PRODUCTION. MAY INVOLVE POOR/MISSING WELDS.

MY EVERYDAY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS VEHICLE INCLUDES - HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING QUICKLY, JERKING FORCEFULLY WHEN ACCELERATING SLOWLY, RANDOM JERKING WHILE DRIVING. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH, EVEN AS AN AUTOMATIC CAR, I CAN FEEL EVERY GEAR CHANGE. ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY, I FEEL EXTREMELY UNSAFE WHEN I ATTEMPT A LANE CHANGE. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS TO QUICKLY SPEED UP, MY VEHICLE HESITATES AND DOES NOT MATCH WHAT I AM DOING ON THE PEDAL. THE HESITATION IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS FOR OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. WHEN I'M GIVING GAS/ ACCELERATING, THERE IS A "HISSING-SOUND" COMING FROM OUTSIDE AND MORE CLEARER AND LOUDER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE PERSON POSITION. CAN HEAR IT EVEN CLEAR IF I ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS. WHILE DRIVING IN A 50MPH ROAD DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I DIDN'T WANT TO PULL OVER ONTO A NARROW BIKE LANE. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC; OTHER DRIVERS WERE FORCED TO GO AROUND ME. AT THE NEXT STOP LIGHT, I RESTARTED THE CAR. THE EPC LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON, AND THE VEHICLE BEHAVED NORMALLY AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, THAT I SHOULD BRING IT IN. I GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT THIS IS A NORMAL REBOOT PROCESS FOR A VOLKSWAGEN, LIKE HAVING TO REBOOT A WINDOWS PC IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FROM 04/13/18 UNTIL 04/17/18, BUT FOUND NO FAILURES. THE DEALER STATED THAT A HEAD ENGINEER WOULD EVALUATE THE VEHICLE ON 04/18/18. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,355.
WHEN THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE IS DISABLED BY TOGGLING THE BUTTON ON THE CENTER CONSOLE, THE CAR DRIVES VERY ROUGH, ESPECIALLY AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING GEARS.
THIS CAR HAS A NEW "FEATURE" CALLED AUTO START/STOP WHICH, WHEN IS ENABLED BY DEFAULT. IF NOT DISABLED, THIS FEATURE WILL TURN OFF THE CAR WHEN IT'S AT A STANDSTILL AND CONSUMING LITTLE POWER, THEN TURN BACK ON WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS. MEANT AS A FUEL CONSUMPTION MECHANISM, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. A FEW TIMES NOW, I FORGOT TO DISABLE IT, AND WHEN PERCHED IN THE MEDIAN BETWEEN OPPOSITE LANES, I HAD TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY AND ALMOST GOT SLAMMED INTO BECAUSE THE CAR HAD TO FIRST START, THEN ACCELERATE. PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THAT VW HAS HAD THEIR VEHICLE FOR WEEKS AND ARE COMPLETELY STRIPPED INSIDE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, SENT THEM THE INFO FROM NHTSA AND VIDEOS OF THE PROBLEM. THE SHOP FOREMAN TOLD ME HE KNEW WHAT IT WAS AND IT WAS AN EASY FIX. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT. DROVE IT 70 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP. ANOTHER TECH WORKED ON IT WITHOUT SPEAKING TO THE FOREMAN AND FOUND THAT BOTH SEAT BELT MECHANISMS WHERE OUT OF THEIR TRACK ( CONCERNING IN AND OF ITSELF). THE FIXED THAT ISSUE AND TOLD ME TO COME GET THE CAR. I ASKED THEM IF THEY SPOKE TO THE FOREMAN ABOUT WHAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS AND THEY HADN'T. I GET A CALL SAYING THEY NEED TO KEEP THE CAR. THE NEXT DAY I'M TOLD THEY ARE GOING TO START REMOVING THE SIDE PANEL AND HEADLINER. DURING THAT TIME I CALLED VW CUSTOMER CARE AND I WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO KNOWN ISSUES--BUT THEY HAVE ACTUALLY BOUGHT BACK PEOPLE'S CARS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. I PICKED UP MY CAR 5 DAYS LATER BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT IT TORN APART AND USED AS A GUINEA PIG AND I NEEDED A CAR AND CAN'T LET IT SIT TORN APART FOR MONTHS. THEY ARE TELLING ME THE ONLY WAY TO FIGURE IT OUT IS TO BRING IT BACK AND RESTART THE PROCESS, BUT IT'S CLEAR FROM REPORTS ON HERE AND OTHER SOURCES THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND HAVE DEEMED CARS INOPERABLE FOR THIS ISSUE.

IT HAS 6600 MILES ON IT?
THE CAR DOES NOT GET MORE THAN 316 MILES TO A FULL TANK. IT ALSO FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS JERKING YOU FORWARD WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO BE REALLY SLUGGISH. THIS IS ALSO DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT ON A BUSY STREET. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DROVE IT CAME BACK AND TOLD ME I SHOULD ONLY FILL UP AT CERTAIN GAS STATIONS. THEY GAVE ME A LIST AND SAID I HAVE TO USE ONLY PREMIUM GAS I. THE CAR AND ONLY FILL UP AT THESE STATIONS IF I WANT THE EXPECTED GAS MILEAGE.
SEL PREMIUM TRIM LANE ASSIST MALFUNCTION - SYSTEM WILL INACCURATELY DETECT LANE LINES AND ATTEMPT TO ADJUST THE VEHICLE TO THE CENTER OF THE LANE, EVEN WHEN IT ALREADY IS CENTERED IN THE LANE, RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE PULLING INTO THE ADJACENT LANE. HAS NEARLY PULLED THE VEHICLE INTO ADJACENT LANE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE PRESENT IN THE LANE RESULTING IN NEAR COLLISIONS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. SYSTEM WILL ALSO REGISTER AS THE VEHICLE SOMEHOW DEPARTING INTO THE LANES ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE AT THE SAME TIME, AND WILL ESSENTIALLY LOCK THE STEERING WHEEL IN PLACE. WE BOUGHT A VW TIGUAN 4 MOTION SEL 2018 WITH PANORAMIC SUNROOF, ON JAN 20,2018. FROM THE SAME NIGHT WE TOOK THE CAR OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP WE HEARD A RATTLING NOISE IN THE B PILLAR CONSTANTLY. STARTING FROM JAN 26, 2018 THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE VW SERVICE STATION TWICE ALREADY (STILL THERE), IN TOTAL OF OVER 3 WEEKS. I HEARD FROM THE SERVICE TEAM THERE WERE THREE OTHER VW CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM SO THE QA TEAM CAME DOWN TO SERVICE STATION TO LOOK AT ALL CASES. QA TEAM CHECKED IT MULTIPLE TIMES. REMEDIES I HEARD FROM THEM INVOLVED "TRIMMING" AND ORDERING NEW PARTS. NOTHING IS FIXED AND THE WORDS I AM HEARING FROM SERVICE IS THAT THERE IS NO HOPE TO EVER GET FIXED. CONTACTED VW CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTLY TODAY, THEY HAD NO RECORD OF THESE ISSUES FOR MY CAR. SO DISAPPOINTING THAT OVER 6 WEEKS OF OUR TIME IS WASTED WITH AN ISSUE THAT SEEMS TO EXIST IN 2018 MODELS SINCE LAST YEAR, AND NO TRANSPARENCY. I BELIEVE THE ISSUE IS STRUCTURAL PROBLEM WHEN CAR IS IN NORMAL CONDITION MOVING AND ADDITIONAL CONCERN IS THE NOISE COMING FROM LOCATION OF SIDE AIRBAGS, I HAVE A BIG CONCERN OVER THE VW SAFETY AND OPERATION OF THE AIRBAGS IN THIS SITUATION, WHEN VW CAN NOT EVEN ADDRESS THE PROBLEM WITH THE NOISE.
I PURCHASED A 2018 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN SEL ON SATURDAY, 02/10/2018. TWO DAYS LATER ON 02/12/18 ON MY COMMUTE TO WORK I BEGAN HEARING A "POPPING" NOISE FROM THE B-PILARS ON BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE PILARS. AS IF THOUGH SOMETHING WAS LOOSE INSIDE THERE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY, 02/17/2018 AND WHEN I WENT IN FOR THE APPOINTMENT THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. I ASKED HIM IF THEY COULD PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER SO THAT I COULD LEAVE MY CAR THERE AND HE INFORMED ME THAT HE COULD NOT MAKE THAT DECISION. I LOOKED FOR MY SALES AGENT AND HE WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE ME A LOANER (2018 TIGUAN SE). I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE REP ON WEDNESDAY, 02/21/18 TELLING ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP. I WENT TO PICK IT UP AND THEY INFORMED ME THEY HAD CHANGED OUT A DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT HEIGHT ADJUSTER ON DRIVER SIDE. I TOOK THE CAR FOR A RIDE AND IT STILL MADE THE NOISE. SO I DID NOT ACCEPT IT. THEY LOANED ME A DIFFERENT CAR (2018 PASSAT R) AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD WORK ON MY VEHICLE. THEY CALLED ME AGAIN ON SATURDAY, 02/24/18 TO TELL ME MY CAR WAS READY. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY, 02/26/18 (I WAS OUT OF TOWN ON SATURDAY), THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD CHANGED THE SEAT BELT SEAT ADJUSTER FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE TOO. I TOOK IT FOR A RIDE AND THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE ON BOTH SIDES. AGAIN, I DID NOT TAKE POSSESSION OF MY CAR. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO DISMANTLE THE HEADLINER TO GET A BETTER GRASP OF THE PROBLEM. I WAS CALLED AGAIN ON FRIDAY, 03/02/18 TO INFORM ME THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO BRING A SPECIALIST FROM VW (IN APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS FROM 03/02/18) TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BEFORE TAKING MORE INVASIVE ACTIONS. THEY LOANED ME A THIRD CAR (2018 VW TIGUAN SEL) AND NO CONCRETE ANSWER ON MY VEHICLE.

REPORTS ALREADY OF 3-4 TIGUANS THAT VW HAS OFFERED FULL REPLACEMENT WITH NEW VEHICLES DUE TO THIS ISSUE. CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IF STRUCTURAL DEFECT. CAR IS BRAND NEW RATTLE STARTED AT 750 MILES.

WE TOOK THE CAR IN ON OUR SECOND DAY OF OWNERSHIP AND DEALER DISMISSED THE ISSUE SAYING THEY COULDN'T HEAR THE NOISE. I DID A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH AND TURNED UP NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND NHTSA CASES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. I'D LIKE TO EITHER HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED OR RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A REFUND.
CONSISTENT RATTLING NOISE FROM B PILLAR AREA. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF RESOLVING THE ISSUE WITH VOLKSWAGEN, THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE OR FIX. THE RATTLE OCCURS DURING REGULAR DRIVING CONDITIONS, BUT PRIMARILY WHEN DRIVING ON BUMPY SURFACES.

THIS IS AN UPDATE TO MY EARLIER REPORT, COMPLAINT NUMBER: 11065547. THE LOW BEAM PERFORMANCE IS WORSE THAN I ORIGINALLY REPORTED. TONIGHT (FEB 2 2018) I TOOK TIME TO LOOK AT THE RANGE OF VISION OF THE LOW BEAMS. I ESTIMATE IT AT 50 FEET. I LIVE ON A CURVED STREET AND AS I DROVE DOWN IT, I OBSERVED THAT WHEN THE TIGUAN WAS POINTED AT A HOUSE, IT DIDN'T GET ILLUMINATED UNTIL I WAS ON THE PROPERTY EDGE. THE HOUSE HAS A 35 FOOT SETBACK FROM THE STREET AND SLIGHTLY UPHILL FROM THE FRONT OF MY TIGUAN. NONE OF THE HOUSE WAS WITHIN THE RANGE OF THE HEADLIGHTS. I DISCUSSED ADJUSTING THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS WITH MY DEALERSHIP BUT THEY DIDN'T KNOW IF THEY WERE ADJUSTABLE. I CONSIDER THIS A SIGNIFICANT AND DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
ANNOYING DRIVER-SIDE B-PILLAR RATTLE AT SPEEDS UP TO ABOUT 50. DOESN'T HAPPEN AS MUCH WHEN VERY COLD (BELOW 35 OR SO) OR -- ODDLY -- WHEN RAINING. DEALER SAYS THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE. WEB SEARCH SHOWS IT TO BE FAIRLY WIDESPREAD. SUPPOSEDLY WELDING-RELATED.
INTERMITTENT ONGOING RATTLE IN THE B PILLARS BEHIND SEAT BELTS..
1) LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE A VERY SHORT RANGE, PERHAPS AS LITTLE AS 100 FEET WITH A VERY SHARP CUT-OFF. ALMOST HIT A DEER BECAUSE ALTHOUGH I WAS DRIVING AT 30 MPH, I COULD BARELY SEE THE DEER AS IT CROSSED THE ROAD. THIS WAS EVIDENT ON A STRAIGHT COUNTRY ROAD WITH NO STREET LIGHTS WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION DRIVING STRAIGHT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON LOW LIT OR UNLIT ROADS AT NIGHT. THE FIX WOULD BE A REDESIGNED HEADLAMPS (BOTH SIDES) OR A BRIGHTER BULBS. NHTSA SAFETY RATING SITE SHOWS THE PROBLEM CLEARLY. IT'S DANGEROUS. 2) WINDSHIELD WIPERS CONTINUE TO STREAK ALTHOUGH THEY WERE REPLACED BY THE VW DEALER, ELGIN VW, WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE STREAKING CREATES A BLIND SPOT ON THE RIGHT PART OF THE WINDSHIELD. UNABLE TO SEE TO THE RIGHT FRONT AT INTERSECTIONS.
THE DRIVER SIDER SEATBELT DOES NOT RETRACT. FOR EXAMPLE, IF I LOOK OVER MY SHOULDER TO CHECK DIVERS IN OTHER LANES MY SEAT BELT WILL LOOSEN AND WHEN I TURN BACK AROUND TO FACE FORWARD THE BELT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY TIGHTEN. I WORRY THIS BELT IS DEFECTIVE AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS IN ANOTHER CAR. I ROUTINELY NEED TO TIGHTEN MY SEATBELT WHILE DRIVING. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF I WERE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT IN THIS VEHICLE THE SEATBELT WILL NOT KEEP ME SAFE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MID-DECEMBER 2017.
THE THIRD ROW OF THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO TRANSPORT PASSENGERS TALLER THAN 5'3' ACCORDING TO A WARNING ON PG.95 OF THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THIS INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE IN ANY OF THE OTHER LITERATURE ABOUT THE VEHICLE.
VERY DIM-INVISIBLE HEAD LIGHT-LIGHTENING DURING HEAVY RAINS OR DARK STREET RIDES. FELT SCARY WHILE DRIVING. ALMOST THOUGHT THAT THERE WERE NO HEAD LIGHTS ON THE CAR. FROM THAT POINT I WAS REALLY NOTICING AND THIS IS THE RATING I GIVE FOR THE LIGHTING THE ROAD AT NIGHT DURING MOTION -> 2/10 STATIONARY ->6/10 CITY STREET ->6/10 PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND FOR SURE YOU'LL FIND THIS "DEFECT" IN THE BRIGHTNESS OF HEADLIGHTS.
PURCHASED THE 2018 TIGUAN ON SEPTEMBER 16TH, ENTERED SERVICE ON OCTOBER 10TH WITH TWO B PILLAR RATTLES, EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE FROM DRIVERS DOOR AND A SCREEN FLICKER WITH THE BACK-UP CAMERA. CAR HAS REMAINED IN SERVICE FOR 21 DAYS AND NO RESOLUTION FROM VOLKSWAGEN.
THE DRIVERS SIDE B PILLAR CONSISTANTLY MAKES AGRESSIVE AND LOUD CRACKING NOISES WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE INITIATED A LEMON LAW SUIT WITH VOLKSWAGEN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THE CONCERN HAS NOT YET BEEN RECTIFIED. ADDITIONALLY THE DRIVERS SIDE B PILLER FLEXES AND CRACKS WHEN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS OPENED (THE DOOR IS ATTACHED TO THIS PILLAR). THE SECOND DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE NOISE WAS WAS VERY CONCERNED. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR TOLD ME THAT PREVIOUS TIGUAN MODELS HAD CONCERNS WITH INSUFFICIENT WELDING WHICH HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED ON SAFERCAR.GOV. IT IS ALSO DOCUMENTED IN MULTIPLE FORUMS. THE SERVICE TICKET INDICATES THAT EXCESS WELDING SLAG WAS DISCOVERED BEHIND THE HEADLINER AND CURTAIN AIRBAG. THE DEALER SAID THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HERE. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE WELDING INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE. THE CAR MAKES VIOLENT CRACKING NOISES DURING ANY BODY FLEX. I'M EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE AND MY OVERALL WELL BEING. IN THE EVENT OF A SIDE IMPACT OR GENERAL IMPACT DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE CAR WILL ADEQUATELY PROTECT ME AND I COULD BE SUBJECT TO SERIOUS BODILY HARM. VOLKSWAGEN REFUSES TO RESPOND OR ASSIST ME IN ANY WAY. THE COMPANY IS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR CONSUMERS AS CLEARLY EVIDENT IN THEIR MOST RECENT SCANDAL IN WHICH THEY DEFRAUDED THE GOVERNMENT AND CONSUMER WITH FALSE EPA RATINGS WHICH THEY KNOWINGLY CONCEALED. IN INTEREST OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC'S SAFETY PLEASE LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION IN TO THIS VEHICLE SO THAT LIVES CAN BE SAVED.
