13 Cars With a Manual Transmission Available in the U.S. Market

Do you love the old standard manual transmission engines? They may seem like a dying breed with so many new automatic cars on the market, but you can still find these old classics. Some manufacturers have discontinued manual models like the Cadillac ATS and six-speed Jaguar F-type. But don’t worry, there are still 30 manual transmission cars available in the US currently.

Some models are still available but have been dropped from the U.S. market altogether. The ones that are still available here sport the manual gear shift and clutch pedal you’ve come to love so much. So, if you’re an old school type who loves cars with a gear shifter you’ll appreciate this list of 13 cars with a manual transmission available in the U.S. Here they are listed in alphabetical order:

Aston Martin Vantage

The Aston Martin Vantage sports car is the image of class and sophistication. It features a 7-speed manual transmission for those who secretly dream of owning one. The Vantage model has a powerful 4.0-liter turbo-charged V-8 engine manufactured by Mercedes. It’s as fast as it is beautiful.

BMW 2-Series

The BMW 2-Series is a classic manual transmission in a 2-door version. Both the rear-drive 230i and M240i coupes have a 6-speed transmission, as does the M240i convertible and the BMW M2 Competition. The one to break out of this tradition is the new 2-series Gran Coupe which will be an automatic.

BMW 4-Series

Get them while they're hot. The BMW 4-Series carries on the tradition of a six-speed manual transmission with its 430i, 440i, and 440i xDrive coupes, as wella s the 430i Gran Coupe and M4. convertible. If you want to own one of these beauties you’ll need to look into the older models as the new 2021 4-series will be automatic only. The demand for more automatic transmission vehicles has taken over some of the beloved models.

Chevrolet Camaro

The Chevy Camaro is everyone’s favorite sports car from long ago. If you dreamed of owning one of these they can still be found. The classic turbo 2.0-liter comes with the six-speed transmission. If you want a little more oomph, go for the ZL1 with its 6.2-liter , supercharged V-8 engine. If you want speed and beauty, the Camaro ZL1 1LE will have you looking like a scene right out of the Fast and the Furious.

Chevrolet Corvette

The Chevy Corvette Stingray, Z06, and ZR1 come with the standard seven-speed manual transmission. Like some of the others, the newer models are automatic only. The configuration of the newer 2020 Corvettes don’t allow room for a manual transmission and many car buyers didn’t want one as an option. Manufacturers felt it would compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle.

Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger is a six-speed manual transmission coupe that is one of the few still available in the U.S. today. A typical muscle car, the Challenger is a combination of speed and style. If you want a powerhouse that drives like a champ, this is the one. Many of these cars come with manual transmission except for the GT, SXT, and the Hellcat Redeye models.

Fiat 124 Spider

The Fiat 124 Spider is a sleek, stylish manual transmission convertible. It is similar in size to the Mazda Miata and comes with a standard six-speed transmission. It is one of the few passenger cars with a manual transmission still in use.

Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang is another classic muscle car with a six-speed transmission and V-8 engine. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is a sports car with 500 horsepower under the hood. The 2019 model year has a 5.2L flat-plane crank V8 engine, with 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. It’s a high performance beast with the 3-pedal configuration that is so well-known.

Genesis G70

The Genesis G70 is a luxury sedan with a six-speed transmission. Sitting in the driver’s seat, it looks like the cockpit of an airplane with all the technical instruments and gauges. It has a powerful engine and 252 horsepower. It is sleek and stylish-looking for everyday driving and cross-country trips. It has a turbo-charged 2.0 liter engine and rear-wheel drive to take you places.

Honda Accord

The Honda Accord is a dynamic six-speed manual transmission with a 1.5 to 2.0 liter engine. The Accord is fuel-efficient and tops everyone’s lists of the best manual transmission cars for efficiency and safety. It is available in the Sport trim level. Like other models listed here, the newer 2021 version opted for automatic transmissions.

Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is another member of the Honda family to carry the tradition of manual transmissions. The civic Sedan or Coupe in the Sport or SI comes with the standard six-speed transmission. The Civic Sedan SI has beautiful style and sleek looks, while maintaining a technological advantage with it’s powerful engine. The interior is modern and resembles an airplane cockpit with all the gauges and monitors.

Hyundai Accent

The Hyundai Accent comes standard with six speeds and three pedals. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, you can stay connected and informed 24 hours a day from anywhere. The SE model is a manual transmission but if you upgrade to a SEL, it switches to an automatic. But there are more offerings from this manufacturer that keep with the current theme.

Hyundai Elantra GT

The Hyundai Elantra GT is another model that will switch to automatic for their newer models depending on which trim package is chosen. The N line model, however, still offers the six-speed transmission. It is available in a compact hatchback but that is also automatic only.

It seems that the love of the manual transmission is limited by demand. If you are serious about buying one of these cars, strike while the iron is hot or before they are all gone. The new trend is towards automatic transmissions as a lot of manufacturers have already discontinued some of their manuals.
